After 3 straight ECF, 2 Finals Appearances and 1 title I felt it was time to rebuild. I enjoy building up prospects the most so I was looking forward to a new rebuild.
Ask away.

When going into a new rebuild is there a position you try to target and build around or do you usually just try to find the best players regardless of position?

Who has been your all time favorite NBN player so far? Yardley by far. He was one of my first acquisitions and I loved watching him grow into an All League SF and potential Hall of Famer. I really wanted him to retire a Net and I really debated holding onto him. It was hard to pull the trigger on the recent trade and was only going to do it for a good deal. I think him and Belov are very comparable players and getting a player 3 years younger was worth it as Belov should be able to anchor the new version of my team better than an aging Yardley would have.

I normally just try and find the best assets. I think getting a stud PG is imperative to a rebuild, but also think they are among the easiest to find. Really I just like to stock pile assets though to allow for more trading.

How hard was it for you to trade Yardley?

Extremely. As I stated in my answer to Silver, he was my favorite player I've had in NBN so far. Belov was always a player I liked from afar and he brings a different skill set than Yardley. Yardley didn't really have any weakness, was a lights out 3pt shooter and an excellent rebounder. Belov is more of an all-around scorer, but my favorite part is his extremely low turnovers.
While it was really hard to trade Yardley. I'm probably targetting a 2 year rebuild (time for my current prospects to grow into starters) than Belov should still be in his prime to lead the group where as Yardley would probably be declining.

Is there anyone on your current roster that you plan on keeping or are you going for a clean slate?

Is there anyone on your current roster that you plan on keeping or are you going for a clean slate? Tough to say. I really enjoy building up prospects and trading so there’s a good chance most of them get moved. I’m really in just asset collection mode. That being said I’d love to keep Belov and build around him. Nicolin, Hundley, Green are all guys that could be starters or important role players. McMillon has a chance also. Porter dropping to C potential really sucks after I gave up a lot to get him but hoping I can hit on his draft notes to save him. I’ll probably end up packaging a few of them next season for a win now player if I resign Belov.

Is Green a star in the making or just a future role player?

Is Green a star in the making or just a future role player? With his shot blocking and rebounding, he is a long term starter for sure. His offense isn’t where it needs to be yet for me to think he’ll be a star though. That said, he’s only 21 with A potential and another improvement Camp left to go. He has a chance, but it’s more likely he’s ends up being just a good starter

Is there anyone on your team you can see exploding if put in the right situation? DC change or by trade to new team

Aside from Belov and Vern, all my guys are young guys. I think the one guy that I have that I can see exploding is PG Hot Rod Hundley. He's pretty developed offensively and has been very efficient to start his career. He's probably better suited to play SG than PG though. Right now he just needs to increase his volume and I think he has a chance to be a 25ppg scorer in a season or 2.

What made you go from rebuild to pushing for the playoffs?

What made you go from rebuild to pushing for the playoffs? It was less about making the playoffs and more about acquiring Hagan for what I thought was a good price. I'm more concerned with setting myself up for next season with Hagan/Belov and hopefully a more developed young core to surround them. With Vern's expiring, I'll have a good amount of cap space opening up to make some more additions.
I will also admit that I got bored of tanking very quickly. With so many bad/inactive teams I was going to finish somewhere around 8-13 and if I'm not going to end up with a top 5 pick then what's the point of wasting a season?
It ended up being more of a retool than a rebuild. I moved on from Edwards/Yardley/Ramsey/Lumpp, which I had to dump Lumpp for salary cap reasons anyway and now I have as good of a duo in Hagan/Belov as any in the league, plus Hundley who I really like. I still have Vern who started out very slow but had a good last sim and I have his salary to use in shopping for an upgrade. I'm not done yet.
