I thought new gm's don't inherit negative banks? I get he should pay lux tax this year, but not sure he should have started with close to negative 3k unless i'm missing something here.
Seems better to try and keep that lotto pick to start your franchise off right.

I thought this was the case too but I guess not as I have literally not been able to spend cash since I’ve been back, which has been super annoying.. especially considering I inherited a team that was so far in the lux tax so my debt only increased after I joined

I would agree that’s sticking a new GM with a -3000 bank isn’t great

I honestly thought a new GM should start square at 0. Makes it easier for a team to rebound and takeover the team how they please.

It's too bad that the last GM wasn't don1955, you'd have 50k cash to spend lol
I hope he's doing okay. I miss having him around

This is an interesting topic, but we have always tied banks to teams rather than GMs and most of the time it helps new GMs but sometimes they come into a tough spot. The Blazers chose to get out of the tough spot by trading a 1st instead of trading some of the players that contributed to the big lux tax bill, or trading the player that he wants to camp, or writing a couple articles. Plus we have the new GM amnesty to help with rebuilding a team and there are no penalties for a new GM being negative. I don't think that inheriting a bad situation means that even more special considerations should be made for the new GM.

Maybe what we can do is with amnesty we can also add that you can cut the bank negative if it's a bad situation instead of cutting a players contract down.

I like that idea with either amnesty a player or your bank

I think the biggest thing is, there is no penalty for the gm being negative, so could technically keep the lotto 1st and work hard to be positive next year while having a solid future asset to build around, so there are a lot of options I feel.
I personally would keep the pick and be active to get cash for next year with no penalties his first year, but that is me. Also can get a fair amount of cash in this league. Couple articles, PC, ASW/EOS pick'em you are looking at a potential of 3k not to mention dc's and pick 'em of sportbook.
