Centers:
Not a surprise that Jokic has been the most productive center in the Western Conference so far, he's an absolute beast that is capable of carrying a team by himself. The interesting part of this list comes when the All-Star game rolls around, who will get the second spot - backing up Jokic?
Will it be Chet? He's on the team that is currently leading the Western Conference standings. He does a great job on both ends of the floor, he's a solid playmaker for the position and he doesn't turn the ball over. Perhaps will be Wembanyama? He's averaging more points, is leading the conference in rebounds, and is right there with the blocks ... but he is quite turnover prone. We also have a pair of players in Towns and Sabonis who are huge parts of their team's offenses. Who do you pick?
Power Forwards:
Small forward is said to be the weak position of the league, well, the Western Conference power forwards have been leaving a lot to be desired. Of course, it's just part of the game, several teams within the top-10 listed centers have two centers starting. If those players were split into C/PF then the PFs would be a bit stronger. Anyway, looking at the players here, Siakam is having a fantastic season and is living up to his contract. Banchero has also been extremely efficient so far this season. It appears these two will be uncontested for the All-Star game.
Small Forwards:
I was unaware Tatum was having such a great season, that's an MVP level performance and explains why the Thunder have been so dominate. Then we have an interesting conglomeration of players, most providing similar results. I do like how Murray and Jaquez stick out as being pretty efficient, even if it's on low'ish volume - those are some nice players to have. Ron Holland has been doing pretty good for a rookie too, I wonder how he ranks against other 2024 draft members.
Shooting Guards:
I don't know if it's just me but it's kind of shocking the amount of points these guys are scoring while keeping their turnovers so low. I really like Booker and Reaves from this list, both have awesome abilities when it comes to scoring but they also have been racking up the assists which is nice. Considering how tight the position is, maybe something so simple will separate them from the rest. Who do you like here, any surprises?
Point Guards:
Biggest shock here has to be Schroder, he only played 10 games last year and his FG% was sub-40%. This year, he's on a mission: nearly 20/4/8. It's also going to be wild to see one of: Doncic, Morant, and Fox left out of the all-star game, all three of them are putting up insane numbers. The future looks bright here with Scoot Henderson too, hopefully the turnovers calm down a bit and he improves his outside scoring but so far he's looking quite nice!
