2029 181 Grizzlies Sign C Joel Embiid for $249,895,560 over 5 years.
First off the rank the Grizz take advantage of having a handful of cap up their sleeve after Sarr and Bane decided to test the market, at first I cringed at this signing, especially the length, however Embiid is still very much a dominant big in the league and should continue for the next few years if he hangs around. 2029 181 Hornets Sign PG LaMelo Ball for $281,954,898 over 5 years.
Hornets breath a sigh of relief as the heart of their franchise decided to resign and continue carrying the team on his back, what’s more important is the Hornets gambled on othering a year less and was lucky enough that I paid off, would ideally like to see them give Ball a shot at SG to control those turnovers but as a signing it’s difficult to find a negative here A-
2029 181 Wizards Sign PF Cooper Flagg for $295,312,500 over 6 years.
Another GM who would have had some nerves leading up to Day 1, every GM who had max cap were begging for his signature but Flagg clearly liked what dash is doing with the team and getting close to a 60 win Season who can’t blame him A
2029 181 Jazz Sign PG Egor Demin for $295,312,500 over 6 years.
Jazz got the prized signature they were chasing and i think it’s safe to say their were the ones who would have wanted him the most outta anyone, Im interested to know if any other team offered a max but the Jazz did what they needed to do and can continue building on their young team B-
2029 181 Bucks Sign SF Dame Sarr. for $225,000,000 over 5 years.
Thought when I saw the Embiid signing that Sarr would have stuck around with the Grizzlies but he decided to pack his bags for Milwaukee, while it’s an excellent signing for the Bucks, I can’t say I have any confidence in Sarr tasting any team success for a while, staying with the Grizzlies would have looked lethal especially with Embiid in town but now he can only hope the Bucks GM can actually build a team and maybe even respond to a PM? B+
2029 181 Mavericks Sign SF Matas Buzelis for $225,000,000 over 5 years.
Another young wing decided after just one Season in Toronto that he wanted a fresh start elsewhere and put pen to paper with the Mavs, as mentioned in the FA Ranking thread, I was rather hesitant to offer Matas a max as I feel as though he hasn’t developed enough to be a max player, but the only way to improve in FA is to open up your wallet so hopefully he has a solid TC and justifies the signing. B
2029 181 Kings Sign C Nic Claxton for $165,375,000 over 3 years.
The fairytale continues for Claxton, a smart no fuss signing here, probably slightly overpaid but 3 years makes up for it, Kings will be in the box seat to have a serious crack at going back to back. B+
2029 181 Pistons Sign C Felix Okpara for $295,312,500 over 6 years.
After the Pistons flipped a couple of their 1sts for Haliburton you knew they were going to go hard to get Felix back on board and they did just that, I can’t say I’m a fan of the signing, I did question if Felix can live up being a max player and my thoughts remain the same. C
2029 181 76ers Sign PG Fred VanVleet for $4,600,000 over one year.
A vet to help back up Maxey whenever he wants a break, even gave the extra 100k to piss off anyone who offered a MLE which was probably no one. C-
2029 181 Heat Sign SG George Washington III for $59,580,000 over 3 years.
Great to see the Heat get involved in sending bids and building his team, as for Washington is difficult to judge based on a player who really hasn’t been given much playing time, there’s not much volume but rating wise it looks like he has a solid foundation but who’s to say that A pot is real, still has a year of camps so fingers crossed the Heat can get a supercamp into him if it’s still available. C+
2029 181 Mavericks Sign C Jarrett Allen for $78,812,500 over 3 years.
The only team to offer Allen above the MLE, did overpay a bit to get his signature but was a bit surprised that he didn’t get some offers around the 15 - 20 million area, I’m happy with the signing as I’ll now have 3 capable bigs who are good enough for 25 - 30 quality minutes. C
2029 181 Lakers Sign C Clint Capela for $10,000,000 over one year.
Another big who were only offered a couple MLE signings outside this offer, with Lakers rebuilding it’s likely be could get flipped for some cash or kept in the rotation if they don’t get any worthy offers to their big 3. C
2029 181 Heat Sign SG Tru Washington for $30,000,000 over 3 years.
Heat pinch another untapped 2nd rounder from Washington, I’m not 100% if they are related, but again a slightly risky signing since it’s difficult to tell if his potential is scouted or real, plus signing another SG isn’t ideal however with a year of camping still up his sleeve he might get a couple sneaky PMs about one of these Washington boys, nice job leflop. B-
2029 181 Cavaliers Sign C Walker Kessler for $92,820,000 over 4 years.
I really like the signing for the Cavs, they were desperate for front court help and Kessler should given them the defensive anchor that they have been looking for. B
2029 181 Cavaliers Sign C Jakob Poeltl for $42,000,000 over 2 years.
Timing worked perfectly for the Cavs with Kessler absorbing the available cap and Poeltl resigning shortly after, should give solid backup minutes and helps strengthen their front court, overpayed but were desperate to keep him C+
2029 181 Timberwolves Sign C Isaiah Jackson for $12,000,000 over 3 years.
Cheap backup who likely took the only offer he received, hopefully Wolves can find some very cheap vets with the remaining cap C-
