Part 2! Sorry for the very quick turnaround on this!
10. Koa Peat
Pos Age In Out Hn Df Reb
PF 22 B C+ C A- A-
Very similar player to Maluach who we covered earlier in the list, who also coincidentally plays in Atlanta. For the same reasons as noted earlier, he is a TC away from being a dynamic offensive weapon. In the meantime, he is a reliable big man with A-/A- defense and rebounding. His ratings are better Maluach which lead him higher on the list obviously. Will be interesting to see the price tag he goes for if he elects to hit the open market this upcoming offseason!
9. Darryn Peterson
Pos Age In Out Hn Df Reb
PG 22 B- B- A A- C
Very fun point guard build being that he is 6'11" and came into the league an elite defender and rebounder at the PG position. At the time of the draft, I had scouted Peterson seeing as I had the #1 overall pick. However, as we all have come to find out, his handles are absolute dog piss and comes with a shaky offensive game. Regardless of the current downside, still a very intriguing prospect for just a 2nd year player with plenty of time to correct his game.
8. Alijah Arenas.
Pos Age In Out Hn Df Reb
SG 21 B+ B C- B+ C
One of the more headscratcher moves was made the other day when the Nets elected to ship Arenas across the Mississippi and out to San Antonio. The trade returned them with Bronny James who in himself is a very polarizing player. Back to Arenas though, he comes into his third season without seeing a SINGLE camp--Which translates to him still have the two difference makers (Super and mentor camps). After both of those run course I see him sitting at around a A-/A- scorer while managing good positional defense and rebounding. To add to the matter, the shooting guard position is in high demand right now. It seems like most prospects come in lacking the willingness to shoot the ball. I don't see that being an issue for Alijah.
7. Baba Oladotun
Pos Age In Out Hn Df Reb
PF 20 B B- C- B B+
The time is upon us, the first Jazz player has hit the list. I tried to remove personal bias, but let me know how you'd tweak the order! Regarding Baba, he is entering his 2nd season in the NBN and as a starter for a Western Conference team who made it a round deep in the playoffs the prior year. The main issue in Baba's game currently is that he is RAW and still holds very high potential despite already seeing 2 TCs. I'm currently bringing you this series of articles for 1 main reason, and that is to get out of debt so I can super camp my man. The way the math checks out, after Baba's +12 he should be rocking a B+/B in scoring with decent ratings on the other side of the ball. At worst I think he is a solid starter, but due to age and potential I feel he has true superstar upside to his game.
6. Eddie Jones
Pos Age In Out Hn Df Reb
SG 19 B B+ C A- C
As mentioned in the Schmidt write up in the prior article, I was shocked when I saw Eddie get selected #1 overall. Then I saw murmurings of draft notes, and BOOM there you have it, a future STUD. That note was a game changer and after only a few sims in the league you can tell that this man will be an issue for teams over the next decade plus! He is a rock solid player and I see him almost like a younger Monte Leyva (Who is only 24 years old, barely missing the ranking cut off). Between Jones and Topic, bundy should be more than happy with his back court as he looks to start competing again.
5. Nguyen Tran
Pos Age In Out Hn Df Reb
SF 22 B B A- B+ B-
It hurt a piece of me putting him this low, but I feel he needs to improve a bit and display skills before getting preferential treatment. If you've read the article or any post of mine in the past, you obviously know how much I think rebounding translates to winning. There was some data digging in 2.0 that would agree with that claim, but others simply wrote off as a lucky coincidence. Not me though, I find Tran super fascinating because of his B- rating that is leading to a small sample size of 9.4 rpg. Which would then also translate to my teams +4 rebounds a game to opponents. In addition to the rebounding, Tran has a great handles rating to support his only 1 topg while also facilitating 3.5 apg, then his average defense. His only real shortcoming as of now would be his offense. He is set for a super camp this year followed by two more sets of camps to try and get it near or north of 20ppg.
4. AJ Dybantsa
Pos Age In Out Hn Df Reb
SF 21 B A- B+ B+ C
If we were playing Pokemon, it the evolution chain would look like the following: Josh Leonard--> Tajh Ariza--> AJ Dybantsa As I said for the prior mentioned players, just a very solid SF build in todays league. He is the near finished product of a developed offensive game surrounded by average defense and rebounding. Very good player and his current skill level lead me to having him higher than Tran.
3. Dame Sarr
Pos Age In Out Hn Df Reb
SF 23 A- A- C+ B+ C-
I had a very hard time deciding between having him 2nd or 3rd on this list, until I remember it was MY list. FUCK OFF with your C- rating at SF buddy. That shit SUCKS. Full disclosure I offered him the fully loaded max contract this offseason with only the plan of immediately flipping him to a sucker who thought they could win with this type of player (cough cough UC). I'm sure he saw me lying straight through my teeth to him which is why he elected to pack his bags and head to Milwaukee. Despite my ignorance, I will acknowledge his very high level offense and that it has lead to a few All-Star Game and All League appearances.
2. Egor Demin
Pos Age In Out Hn Df Reb
PG 23 B- B+ A B-
Like I said, it was a toss up for who was 2nd on the list and as you can see went with Egor. Just feel like he holds more elite traits in today's NBN than just scoring the ball. There is only a number of PGs (Maxey, Fox, Brunson, Hali) that are able to dish out high numbers of assists while keeping their turnovers limiting to under a 2.5 per game threshold, and Egor fits that build. As a GM I try to look at basketball through a simple lens, the more possessions your team can have or limit the other team from having is a major key to success. Which is why I value the low turnover point guard build. As a 6'7'' PG, you can imagine I love him for bringing in close to 6 rebounds per game. Additionally, Egor is a rare architype that has managed to come away with nearly a block a game over the past two seasons. His scoring is where his shortcomings are. Last year he was 22 ppg on 45% from the field which I found solid, however, TC did hit Egor negatively so it will be interesting to see how this year pans out for him.
1. Cooper Flagg
Pos Age In Out Hn Df Reb
PF 23 A- A- B A- A-
Will start this out by stating the obvious. Fuck Dash. This guy is the real deal, white Lebron, you name it he can do it. Imagine a player good enough to make Dash relevant, yeah, that's how good Flagg is. Only thing bad I can really say about him, is that he must be dumb as FUCK for turning down a contract in the Mormon state or really anywhere else besides Washington! Do I really need to ramble anymore about this guy, we all know he is a freak.
