Pelicans Sign PG Avery Johnson for $56,000,000 over 4 years.
Grade : B
This was an interesting signing and it seemed not many including myself even knew who this guy was. He seems to have a mentor camp and a DITR camp at his disposal. I dropped the grade cause D rebounding is so bad and his defense is sub par. His handles are nice and doesnt turn the ball over a ton so this could end up a decent cheap contract if he becomes a valuable starter.
Spurs Sign PF Koa Peat for $225,000,000 over 5 years.
Grade: B+
Ive been critical of bigs signing these type of deals but im here to say im kinda over judging them wrongly. I still dont think personally i would have offered this much but to get a young stud on the spurs next to Arenas and Spreewell is a nice move. They also still have 40 mill in cap and will lose Sabonis 49 mill next year. Nice deal for the Spurs.
Celtics Sign SF Kiyan Anthony for $77,582,250 over 4 years.
Grade: B-
Dont hate this deal and dont love it. Not a fan of pour rebounding SFs but at 24 he shoots the ball well enough to give you solid mins and isnt Horrendous Defensively.
Celtics Sign SF John Collins for $40,982,500 over 3 years.
Grade: C+
Another SF to the Celtics and that gives them 3 now. I wouldnt dislike this as much if Collins wasnt 33 but hes shown in the playoffs to be a solid guy to have. Wonder if he will just try and just flip him for assets.
Grizzlies Sign SF Jonathan Isaac for $4,500,000 over one year.
Grade: C
Issac didnt play at all last year and think one of the worst moves for his career was being flipped to Sf. I wonder if Grizz could have got him for an LLE but for depth purposes at backup big this isnt a bad deal.
Jazz Sign SG William J. Hudson for $15,000,000 over 5 years.
Grade: C-
Idk i see the cheaper contract and 2nd rounder and taking a risk but 5 years just seems steep. Guess we will have to wait and see if TC does him wonders but think Jazz should have only offered a normal 2 year deal here.
Mavericks Sign C Naz Reid for $1,000,000 over one year.
Grade: C
Nothing much to add here, okay scorer but nothing else really. Good depth
Heat Sign SF Amen Thompson.. for $20,000,000 over 2 years.
Grade: D+
I dont get it, Guy didnt play at all last year and averages 5-3 in 16 mins in his career. Think this money could have been used elsewhere.
Heat Sign C Ryan Kalkbrenner for $40,000,000 over 2 years.
Grade:D
I just personally think the heat swung and miss on Day 1. His defense is good but scoring is horrible and hes a very sub par rebounder. 20 mill is WAY too much
