you need a Fox or a Maxey, Flagg, Wemby, Jokic, maybe Wilt or Stockton ... to win titles Not talking about Rog and his star pg Xavian drafted at 20 I've rebuild the 4 first seasons and it got me nowhere. Carrington underwhelming, Jakobe average at best. Koa peat 11/11 guy, Sarr is the only player that turned out good and i traded him early Unless you have the luck to land one of those goats in a particular draft or can trade for one of the true stars your chances are slim Also to keep those average starters you have to pay maxes in fa after rookie contracts Is this not how it works in real life? You either need an extremely balanced roster(Celtics this year IRL, Grizzlies title 3 years ago) or a Lebron James, Steph Curry, Nikola Jokic level player. Average starters are getting paid insane amounts of money in real life too. This league right now is doing a really good job mimicking how real life NBA works in the modern era. |

I personally think the drafts have worked out in the way I've intended. Inflation has remained low. Starting level guys that aren't quite stars still have value because we're not flooded with star level guys. Later draft picks have value because there is talent to be had. And the top of the draft(top 2) are pretty much can't miss guys that turn into at least starters and for the most part that extends to the top 3-4. Busts are good too, fwiw. Not all of them are intended, but the game's doing which I think is a good thing. You can't have 100% hit rates or the draft gets boring. Sucks for those guys that get stung but its healthy for the league to have guys miss.

Also there was a TON of talk early on people didn't want prospects coming in too good to outshine the current set of rookies, which ended up producing Wemby, Scoot, Bilal, and Kobe Bufkin as the only real starters and up guys. Quite a few role players though.

Its a tough discussion, I had Sengun and was top of the league, he dropped in stats faster than my Cowboys run defense. FBB is weird I will say and there are a lot of overpaid players. Go from non option 17/13 to barely double/double is crazy, I can't explain it lol.
Look at how many guys are drafted late and camped right, it works, you don't need a tank player to win. I just played better after trading Mintz (selected in 2nd round) and went to ECF.

Yeah, look back at real life NBA drafts from 2017-2020 and the number of stars/starters/role players mimics how our drafts have been going. I think it's working out the way it should.
