The 57th, and final of 2016, nominee of the NBN Hall of Fame looked to be one of the league's original young stars. He didn't turn out to be the superstar that many projected him to be, but he was a really good, talented point guard who could help you win a lot of games and did so for a bunch of teams. Doe his disappointment loom over his case, or do his achivements outweigh his cloud? Lets take a look.

Arguments For Induction
- First and foremost Davis was a triple double threat, getting 45 in his career which is pretty high up the list all-time. He really could do it all for you in just about every way.
- Baron Davis was a point guard first and foremost, averaging 8.2 assists per game. But in his prime he was 9.5 assist or better for several seasons, which is an elite passer if you ask me. He had turnover issues early in his career but when he became an elite passer he also got his turnovers under control to where he was doing 10 assists and around 2.5 turnovers a game, good for a 4-to-1 turnover ratio. Those are Hall of Fame numbers.
- As said he was a triple double threat, and as such he was a great rebounder for a point guard, averaging 5.4 a game for his career and being over 6 a game for a lot of his career. Again, those are elite numbers.
- Elite defender, averaged 2 steals a game for his career and for 11 seasons he was at or above that number in his career. He also carried at least an A defensive rating almost his entire career, and certainly his entire prime. Again, elite.
- Overall its tough to argue that Baron Davis was elite at a number of things, between passing, rebhounding, and defending you can make a case that he didn't need to contribute as a scorer to be an elite player and help his team at a Hall of Fame level. Wasn't someone you feared, wasn't someone to single handedly win you games, but certainly a guy you could line up and know he was going to give you elite production in a number of ways.
Arguments Against induction
- I mean again, as always first of all we have to address the awards. Baron Davis has ZERO, ZERO accolades that matter. That enough should disqualify him from being a Hall of Famer, period.
- You can't even say he was a solid scorer, or that he didn't hurt his teams with how bad he was at scoring, but Baron Davis flat out hurt his team whenever he did anything but catch a board and pass to a teammate to score. Like he never topped 17.6 PPG and he needed 1308 attempts to get that, or shot 41% from the field. Yeah he wasn't great. Also he took 1302 3 pointers, and shot 33.7% doing it. Oh and was a point guard who shot 64.6% from the line. Ouch.
- Was he a good defender without any awards? Can't really say that he was, great at getting turnovers, good defender? Can't say that.
- OVerall, what is he? Great at rebounding at a position where that isn't essential? A great passer who had a turnover problem and was just as good at throwing the ball to the other team as he was at his own team? A guy who may have been a good defender but gave up more points than he scored because he was an atrocious offensive player? Does that seem like a Hall of Famer? I didn't think so.
Vote carefully, and remember to throw out arguments regardless of which side you're on. This should be a discussion that eventually gets the league to the proper decision on him. Your vote can also be retracted after it's been cast if you feel like switching to the other side based on the arguments that have been made. To be inducted, a player needs 70% and to be considered in a later class they need 50%. Vote carefully!
***BONUS - Don't forget that everyone who votes gets $25 and the person that makes the best argument or contributes to the discussion the best will be awarded an extra $25**
