The money looks like a lot but you have to compare it to real life contracts. Most aren't that out of the realm of realistic.

Eventually you'll have to pay the stars this type of cash and then some.

Dont get me wrong. I am in no way happy with the Ayton contract.
My thoughts: Yesterday my offer was 25 mil/ yr. I still think that is more than I wouldve wanted to offer. I wanted to go 22/yr.
Pistons lost their center. Mavs lost their center. Pelicans needed bigs.(and signed Kristaps & Randle for 30 each btw).
I looked at remaining top FA and Ayton was 4th in your list. I figured someone would offer in the high 20s with increases, so i offered a bit more in a flat contract. He was also the best rebounder(ratings wise) available. A solid defender(lacks stocks)
I do not think it is much worse than Paolo who cant rebound or Herro(whose contract was praised) who only scores and doesn't even do that all that well. Maybe 6 years is too long and 33 is definitely a bit higher but I figured it wasnt too far off from what offers could/ may have offered.
We dont have the FA insider thing that we had in V1. I definitely wouldve used it on him. I looked at yesterday and last few FA too. I think he wouldve gotten 25-30 from someone else based on cap available and recent history, so i went a bit higher

Comparing contracts will get you nowhere.
I had 50M in capspace and did not send a bid to Ayton but offered money to every other big.

I guess I figured that he is still 28, so someone might offer him 5 years, so i offered him the 6th. Its tough to gauge. I wouldnt want to offer Mark Williams the deal that I accepted either but took it also lol
