The usual lineup builder is back. Me and ucfinfan86 break it down. I am white and he is red.
Atlantic
Risen(7,000,000)/Qu(5,157,692)
Pettit(15,000,000)/Green(2,503,232)
Hagan(13,406,250)/Eddleman(4,500,000)
Guerin(16,250,000)/Smawley(3,000,000)
Cousy(10,000,000)/Baumholtz(3,047,194)
Total: $79,864,368
Overview: This is the last year of the Cousy discount since he was trade but who knows if he will expect big bucks or sign for less because of him signing for 10 mill a year. It will be something to watch. Outside of Cousy I wanted to get Belov in but with how the contracts play out I had to go with Guerin who isnt so bad right? Filling out the roster I went with Risen and Qu at center because they are great defensive bigs on very nice deals. At PF Pettit is too good to pass up and being he is still get paid a good price you have to go with the stud PF. Next to him I went with an up and comer in Green as he is still on his rookie deal and has great ratings even if his #s are not something to write home about. At SF I went with Hagan who is signed to a great deal for a stud SF. He is someone you can fit in very easily because he is cheaper than the norm. Next to him is Eddleman who is signed to the MLE and when you can score 20+ a game making that little it is an easy choice. AT SG next to Guerin I went with Smawley who is still on his g league contract and he is a legit scorer so that became an easy choice especially since I am close to 80 mill and last I went with Frank the tank who is still signed to his bargain of a deal. He is starting to decline but he still can score at a high rate and when you are barely paid over 3 mill it is a very easy choice and he just keeps me under the hardcap.
PG Bob Cousy 10,000,000
PG Frankie Brian 6,000,000
SG Richie Guerin 16,250,000
SG Belus Smawley 3,000,000
SF Cliff Hagan 13,406,250
SF Dike Eddleman 4,500,000
PF Bob Pettit 15,000,000
PF Johnny Green 2,503,232
C Arnie Risen 7,000,000
C Larry Foust 1,200,000

The Atlantic division has a lot of talent and a lot of veterans on good deals. The division is loaded at SG/SF with stars on high salaries and I tried to figure out a way to fit atleast 2 of them, but couldn't fit a 3rd. My locks were Cousy, Brian, and Foust. At PG this may be Cousy's last year as a no brainer assuming he gets a max contract and Brian at $6mil is easy. At SG I would have loved to get Belov, but I couldn't find the extra money and Guerin is arguably just as good. The 2nd spot really came down to Smawley vs Tanenbaum and I think Smawley is just a better overall player. He's shooting nearly 50% from FG and 3pt with pretty good defense. He's been a helluva development story. Hagan was nearly a lock, but with Drazen and Schmidt also in the division I couldn't lock him in. His salary made him the easiest to fit in, even though all 3 are pretty equal players. Dike is having a career year at the age of 31 and on the MLE is a steal. Pettit is one of the best PF in the league, but it's hard to lock in big man on larger contracts. Yuri was in real consideration as well. Green is the 4th big and his low salary was needed to fit everyone else in. Both Risen and Foust are on excellent contracts. Foust has probably the best contract in the league. He's providing a double double with 3 blocks and 45% FG on just the LLE. With the scoring options this roster has at PG, SG, and SF it really just needs the big man to rebound and block shots.
Central
Edwards(13,750,000)/Williams(4,500,000)
Ringgold(2,000,000)/Naulls(3,447,164)
Pazin(11,250,000)/Stangel(5,000,000)
Berkovich(12,500,000)/Raga(10,087,188)
McGuire(9,100,000)/Brody(2,922,339)
Total: $74,556,691
Overview: the Central is a couple stacked teams and then very little. So for this team I took 3 starters of mine which are Edwards, Pazin, Ringgold. Edwards is one of the best bigs and a no brainer, ringgold is getting paid only 2 mill and that is an easy choice and Pazin is the 2nd best SF behind Arizin but he is signed to a much better deal and one that is manageable to build around. Next I got Williams at center who is only getting paid the MLE and would make a top of the line backup big. Naulls is my backup PF because of his versatility and being on the last year of his rookie contract. Next to Pazin I went with Stangel who is having anvery nice year helping the Hawks become relevant again and he is only getting paid 5 mill. At SG I went with one of the next stars in Berkovich who is in his 1st year of his max deal and is showing he will only get better. The backup position went to Raga who would make a great addition to the bench with his Stealing ability and solid shot. At PG I went with McGuire over Young mainly because of the difference in contract. Young and McGuire are very similar player who put up similar numbers so it isnt much of a fall off and last I went with the young Brody who I feel has the chance to be special especially with Rog being the one who will take care of his camping plus he is still on his rookie contract. This leaves me with over 5 mill in space but I am cool with the teams outcome.
PG Dick McGuire 9,100,000
PG Trae Young 16,962,500
SG Miki Berkovich 12,500,000
SG Hal Greer 3,668,269
SF Djorde Pazin 11,250,000
SF Otto Stangel 5,000,000
PF Tyler Ringgold 2,000,000
PF Willie Naulls 3,447,164
C Leroy Edwards 13,750,000
C Janis Krumins 1,964,328
357,739
My only locks for the Central division were Ringgold and Krumins. Both are huge values at their respective salaries and really allowed me to get a lot of higher priced guys. At PG there was really 3 options in McGuire, Costello, and Trae. Originally I didn't think I'd be able to fit in Trae's salary but when I was able to make it work, I think they are both a little better than Costello right now. Miki is becoming one of my favorite players in the league and the only other option was really Raga or Ramsey and I think Miki is better than both. Greer has disappointed, specifically his shooting %, but there wasn't really any other cheap options available. At SF I wasn't going to be able to afford Arizin and Pazin, Modestas and Fuzzy are all at the same price point. Modestas and Pazin are almost identical players and I took the 500K savings which I ended up needing. Otto was really the only guy in the division who made sense at this price point. He doesn't do anything else besides score, but he's having a pretty solid season. At PF Ringgold was a lock. Naulls is having a pretty decent year, although the lack of blocks from a big is a big turnoff. I think he's a good fit though with the other big men on the roster. Edwards is probably the best big man in the league right now and on a very reasonable salary. Krumins is the perfect cheap rebounding/defensive big that you look for.
