1. Jazz - C Nate Thurmond
Ratings Before TC : B- C+ C+ B+ A- A
Ratings After TC: B C+ C+ A- A- A
Analysis: Nate Thurmond didnt go up much in his 1st TC, but his ratings are still by far the best in this draft class. A modest +2 for the number one overall pick will suffice for the Utah franchise. Expect him to be camped early and often in his career and should live up to the hype of being the number one pick in this draft class.
Grade: A-
2. Celtics - SG BJ Boston
Ratings Before TC : C+ B C+ B+ C- A
Ratings After TC: C+ A- C+ A C- A
Analysis: Boy did BJ have one hell of a TC this season. I was definitely wrong about how bad of a pick I thought this was. He went +4 between 2 categories. His outside jumping 2 letter grades is huge for his development. Just wondering whats in the water in Boston for him to grow this much so fast.
Grade: B+
3. Bulls - SG Larry Jones
Ratings Before TC : B B C+ C+ C A
Ratings After TC: B B C+ C+ C B
Analysis: He didnt move one bit for the Bulls and their GM. It is too early to call Larry Jones a bust, because he came in more NBN ready then a lot of the players in this draft. Camps are needed, maybe he is close to jumping to B+ in both scoring catefories. One could only hope for the Bulls franchise.
Grade: B
4. Kings - SG Eddie Miles
Ratings Before TC : C+ B+ C- B D+ A
Ratings After TC: C+ B+ C- A- D+ A
Analysis: Eddie Miles looks like a 3 and D kind of guy after his 1st TC. He needs to improve his scoring to be able to be considered for a starter in this league. Most players on good teams are 2 way players and he looks like he could end up being a decent one. Camps will be integral for his growth here.
Grade: B-
5. Bucks - PG Juan Antonio Corbalan**
Ratings Before TC : C B- B+ B- D A
Ratings After TC: C B B B- D+ A
Analysis: Didnt like this pick before TC still dont like it after TC. Not sure why this was the pick even though it was CPU'd. Either way the Bucks missed out on a ton of talent because of this pick. He still has another 2 years of TCs before coming over to the NBN so maybe he will be a late bloomer. I think he might be able to become a good backup but at 5 thats a terrible pick.
Grade: C
6. Pistons - SG Jeff Mullins
Ratings Before TC : C+ B- B B C- A
Ratings After TC: C+ B+ B B+ C A
Analysis: Jeff Mullins had himself a good TC. He improved a little everywhere and made a big jump in outside. This pick could end up being the best out of the CPU'd ones. I think him being a good all around player makes him better to be a 6th man type if he can up his scoring then he will be a starter. In anycase the Pistons can use this player in many different ways.
Grace: C+
7. 76ers - SG Art Heyman
Ratings Before TC : B+ C B+ B+ C+ A
Ratings After TC: B+ C A- A- C+ B
Analysis: Art had a solid TC, just not where you would like a SG to necassarily, especially since he is lacking an outside shot. Camps can improve this, but I bet the 7ers GM was hoping for him to improve his outside shot on his own to give him something to work with. His defense looks to be incredible so if Art an improve that outside even a little bit Id say hes gonna be a great player for Philly in thbe long run.
Grade: B+
8. Blazers - SG Mirza Delibasic
Ratings Before TC : C+ A- C B- C- A
Ratings After TC: C+ A C B C A
Analysis: One of the better Sg's drafted this season. He made the jump to A outside and for a rookie that is amazing. His inside goes up a little each season he could really see his name ontop of the league leaders in scoring sooner rather than later. With his notes he will be a very good player, probably shouldve been selected in the top 5 after this TC, but hindsight is always 20/20, right?
Grade: A
9. Hawks - SF Joe Caldwell
Ratings Before TC : B C B A- C+ A
Ratings After TC: B- C B A C+ A
Analysis: This pick was a solid one from the get go in my eyes. I believe Caldwell is a defensive stud and will always be one. His only downfall is will he ever be able to score enough to be a starter in this league. Maybe if he can up his rebounding he will be able to play a little more of the 4 than the 3 in his career. Tweeners if used correctly can create a lot of mismatches we will see if the Hawks GM has a plan for Pogo Joe.
Grade: C+
10. Pacers- SF Lou Hudson
Ratings Before TC : B B- C+ C+ C A
Ratings After TC: B B- C+ C+ C A
Analysis: I was all over this pick when it happened, honestly still like it even though Sweet Lou did not improve at all. This could actually help him with his noted if he shoots under a certain percentage he can be moved to his natural position of SG. This would give him an advantage over most SGs. Also his scoring is still solid for a rookie who is uncamped. The verdict is still out on Lou, but I still have high hopes for him.
Grade: B
11. Magic - SG Liu Jianli
Ratings Before TC : C+ C+ B- C+ C+ A
Ratings After TC: C B- B B- C+ A
Analysis: I hated the pick of Liu when it happened and his TC changed a little bit for me. Keeping that A potential was huge for him even if it is scouted. He went a total of +3 in TC and that was better than some in this draft. Still not high on him as Magic GM seems, but it wasn't as bad of a pick as I thought. Still couldve gotten a better player in my opinion, but time will tell for Liu if he is able to keep improving and prove me wrong.
Grade: C
12. Rockets - SF Bob Love
Ratings Before TC : B C+ D B C+ A
Ratings After TC: B B- D+ B B- B
Analysis: Bob Love looks to have gotten better in outside and rebounding. Outside was huge for this guy already being able to score from inside improving his outside makes him look a little better than Sweet Lou. I had my eyes on both of these guys, but Bob looks to be ahead of Lou in the development department. I wouldnt mind either, but like most of these rookies he has a long road to become a player that is able to start for a winning team.
Grade:N/A
13. Pacers - PG Daishen Nix
Ratings Before TC : C+ C+ B+ C+ C+ B
Ratings After TC: C+ C+ B B- C B
Analysis: Poor Daishen, he had high hopes coming out of College. He still does because if he can play all 82 games his potential will go up and thats good news for the Pacers and their fans. Expect Daishen to be camped to make up for him going backwards in the ballhandling department. If the Pacers GM is lucky he lost his ability to pass. His defense improved and having a PG that can rebound is an advantage most GMs love to have.
Grade: C+
