Note: We didn't really get to finish this up all the way, but it's still a decent length. I also edited out some of the questions to make it a little more relevant
MC: so how's everything going with your team? You kind of had a weird season, any big free agency plans?
Frosty: Yea this season sucked. I was hoping to finish bottom 5 and make a jump in the lottery but neither happened. I was on track for a decent pick all season long and in the last couple sims I won too many games. I probably won't tank for a while after this. The season takes too long to just waste a whole year.
As for free agency I'm hoping to make a ton of moves. I lined everything up so that its just Wilt and a couple rookie contracts on the roster so I should have a ton of room. Should be fun
MC: Who's on your list for players to add around Wilt? A lot of good talent in this free agency.
Frosty: I'll probably just offer for pretty much everybody. I'd obviously love to bring back the hometown kid Miki B but I'm open to anybody. I'll be active for sure.
I'll also probably throw out a couple long term 2-3 million deals. There's a bunch of players from the inactive teams that could be something if someone active had them.
MC: Is there a trade target you'd like to pair with wilt?
Frosty: Id love to see how Wilt works with an elite PG. I have a couple of Rogs nude pictures so I'm hoping I can snag a couple Hornets future firsts and leverage that for West. Otherwise I'd love a Nico Mannion or Costello type. Wishful thinking but an elite PG like that paired with Wilt would for sure win a ton of games.
MC: What happened with Daneu after such a solid year?
Frosty: I've never been a huge fan of Ivo so I'm not surprised he finally fell off a cliff. Ivo was mostly a league average PG who got overpaid seemingly every year in FA. He still brings a couple steals to the table so I'll try to get him back for cheap in a backup role but other than that yea, he's definitely fallen off a cliff.
MC: How long until the raps are a full contender again?
Frosty: We'll be contending this year. I have the best big the leagues seen in a while and max cap room. Hopefully I can upgrade every position in FA
MC: Alright, let's move on to some league related questions. Who do you think has the most talent on their team, who do you think has the best rebuild core going, and who has the absolute worst situation in the league
Frosty: This is a tough question because currently we're about to enter free agency so this answer would be different post FA. Right now the Sonics would be my pick for most talented. They have 2 stars to build around in Ja and Simons and just added another likely in Rick Barry. Best rebuild is probably the CPU Bucks at this point. It's a shame the Bucks players aren't getting camped, because Chet Walker, Jon McGlocklin, and now Wes Unseld with 60+ million cap is a pretty good rebuild start. Worst situation? Probably still the Mavs. Being a lotto team without your 1st sucks, and that Shai contract shuts them out of really adding multiple stars in FA this year.
MC: You mention CPU, should GMs be able to offer CPU trades for open teams?
Frosty: Yea absolutely. The CPU Bulls haven't been a contender but it's not because they get taken advantage of in trades. The CPUs made what 5 trades in the last 5 seasons? If that. It at least offers a way to get good players off teams that won't camp them.
MC: Do you feel the 1 trade offer restriction is too much and the CPUs should have more of a role in the league?
Frosty: I like the 1 trade restriction as is. It adds another layer of protection for the CPU. I think the CPU team is fine as is.
MC: How do you feel the addition of intern gms will do? We have some of the best for the teams, is the step in the right direction?
Frosty: I've always liked interim GMs in any league I've been in. It sucks to see good players wasted so if there's someone willing to guide a team for a bit by all means.
MC: Who do you think has the most talent on their team, who do you think has the best rebuild core going, and who has the absolute worst situation in the league?
Frosty: Most talent - Denver Nuggets. Oscar is the best PG that isn't Jerry West. Belov is still looking like the best SG in the league. Cruz is probably the best or 2nd best big. And they got a ton of good role players like Leroy Ellis and Phil Tollestrup locked up super cheap.
Best rebuild - The Wizards turned it around really quick. They flipped their old core into a new core of Hunter/Gilles/Rana/Dave. Pretty impressive
Worst Situation - Probably an inactive team that doesn't camp players like the Heat/Bucks etc. Hopefully the interim GMs save a couple of these drafted players
MC: As a veteran gm, what advice do you have for our newcomers, and to some gms that have been struggling in the past?
Frosty: Um have fun more than anything I suppose. Don't trade your picks, camp your players. It's not that hard of a formula to win games but it is hard to not get bored and blow your entire team up. I've made quite a few trades I regret because I was bored (Ja Morant).
MC: Speaking of that, what do you think is a move a team has made in the last few seasons that you think will be a regrettable deal soon?
Frosty: Hmmm hard to say really. Honestly even though it hasn't happened yet I know Rog has been shopping West. Personally I don't see an offer being fair for a guy that good. I can't really think of any truly awful deals in the past few years but if Rog ever trades West he'll regret it. Last really bad trade I remember making was trading Morant for JPB. JPB is alright but Morants obviously really good like I knew he'd be.
MC: Apologies on delays
How has your season faired so far? About where you thought you'd be?
Frosty: Eh. We started the season super rough. I wasn't able to find a PG early on and that really hurt. Since then we've been either terrible or amazing. I'm surging right now but we'll see if it lasts.
MC: Do you see yourself moving wilt and others for rebuild packages in the next few seasons?
Frosty: Nah probably not. Nobodies untouchable but a rebuild package is hard to come by in this league so I'd rather ride Wilt till the wheels fall off. Id need a decent prospect+a pick or two, and I won't get that in this league.
