Bill Laimbeer
Prides himself on his defense and intimidation, for every disqualification that Laimbeer has on his rookie contract, he will be eligible to add +1 to any defensive or rebounding rating.
Michael Ray Richardson
Richardson's preview showed a prospect with insane potential but with an awful hole: his handles. Richardson is convinced that he is going to make it as a legend, even if it means using illegal substances. If he is PED his rookie year, he is allowed to gain +10 instead of +5. If he were to be caught, instead of the attributes being reset, he will gain +5 instead of +10, but he would still face suspension. Also, Sugar Ray turned his life around and became a mentor to the youth opening up free camps to help young kids chase their dreams and teach them about life and how drugs played a pivotal role in his life. As long as Sugar is averaging more than 10MPG he can send any young player 0-3 years of Service to 1 free improvement camp per year.
Norm Nixon
Many look at Norm and say he's in the shadow of Maurice Cheeks, and he wants to prove those nay sayers wrong. If picked ahead of Cheeks, he'll be able to gain a free +5 to potential and +3 to any attribute. If he's selected after Cheeks, he will gain a boost to any attribute depending on how many spots after he was selected. If he was selected 5 spots after Cheeks, he'd get a free +5 to any attribute, etc.
Earl Tatum
Tatum has lotto level talent but might have a ceiling that holds him back from other prospects. What sets him apart is his will to be better than his pure ability might otherwise take him. If his “lack of potential” costs him a lottery pick, he’ll use that as extra motivation to prove them wrong. For every spot he is selected outside the lotto, he will gain +1 to his potential
Aleksander Petrovic
Petrovic is a player who turned immediately to coaching once his career ended. Because of this, he will be somewhat of a players coach who must PLAY to unlock his notes. For every season in his career that Petrovic plays 28 plus minutes, everyone on his team will receive a free +2 in any category. The same category cannot be used in back to back years.
Panagiotis Giannakis
Maurice Cheeks
Giannakis and Cheeks come in as the obvious 1-2 at the PG position, but which is the two is better? That question remains, but there’s no doubting these two will be linked together for years to come. There will be some bonuses during the draft process depending on where they are taken due to their want to be better than the other. Whichever of the two is drafted first, that player will receive a free plus 3 to any rating besides potential. Whichever is drafted second, they will receive a free plus 3 to any rating (minus potential) AND a free plus 3 to potential.
Fast Eddie Johnson
“He was built like a linebacker and was as fast as they come with the ball in his hands, putting it on the floor, attacking someone off the dribble,” Mike Fratello, who coached the Hawks during some of Johnson’s nine seasons with the team.
Eddie Johnson was a decent scorer and actual was an all star back in his day until Drugs after his playing days took over his life. Fast wants to live up to his nickname and any time a strength or quickness attribute is added it can be doubled. Furthermore he has an interesting PED note. Due to his real in life drug problem If sent to a PED camp and gets suspended he is kicked out of the league for good but if he is not suspended you’re able to add an additional +5 to any attribute.
Cedric Maxwell
Is Maxwell a small forward or will he be better suited for power forward? Who knows. One thing we do know is that Maxwell was a clutch player in his time. Statistically speaking, Maxwell peaked during his 2nd year in the league averaging 19 and 10 on 58% shooting, but he was much more than that. Maxwell was known for his clutch performances in the playoffs. Because of this, whatever team that drafts him will have the chance to take advantage of some nice notes (if your team is good). For every season that Maxwell's NBN team makes the playoffs, Cedric will be eligible for a free +2 to any rating, excluding potential. If the team that he is on ever reaches the finals, he will be given a +5 to potential and if the team he is on ever WINS the title, he will be given +10 to his potential. These must be claimed in spending and there is no cap on the amount of times this note can be used.
Mitch Kupchak
Kupchak was a decent NBA player during his time, but his true success in the field came after he finished playing. Kupchak is the current president of basketball operations and general manager for the Charlotte Hornets, but he had an amazing run in the late 80s and 2000s where he won 7 titles with the Lakers. Mitch may never turn into an elite player here, but regardless of that, he will have the ability to help the overall success of the team. In order to do so, he must play and perform some. Kupchak's career averages are 10 ppg and 5 rpg. For every season here (with at least 60 games played) where Mitch averages EITHER over 10 ppg OR 5 rpg, the entire team will get a free team improvement camp. This must be claimed in spending and there is no cap on which camp you use, meaning you can continuously use the same camp in back to back years.
Otis Birdsong
Birdson is a player who is flying under the radar in this draft. A 4 time All Star during his days, Birdsong is a good scorer at every level. The problem with Otis is that's all he can really do. Fortunately for the team that drafts him, Birdson wants to prove that he is worth a high pick in this draft. If drafted in the top 5, he will receive a free +5 to any attribute and +5 to potential. If drafted in the top 10, he will receive just a +5 to potential.
Richard Dacoury
Dacoury has become a fan favorite after pre-draft camps, leading the league in blocks per game at SG. Dacoury is considered to be one the greatest players in French basketball history and when he retired in 1998, he held the belt for the most French League titles during his career, with 9. Dacoury wants to play on a winning team and when we say winning, we mean title-contending. If Dacoury is every on a team that wins the NBN Title, his potential will automatically be set to 100.
Lonnie Shelton
After a terrific pre-draft camp where Shelton would win DPOTY, All-League First Team PF, and All-Defensive Team regards, Lonnie was shocked to see that the initial draft rankings landed him with D potential, lowest in the league among draft talent. Shelton just wants to be given a chance and with the pre-draft sim, he's hoping that he did enough to get that chance. If Shelton is drafted in the lottery, he'll have his potential re-scouted up to a B rating. If Shelton can manage to land on the All-Rookie first team in his first year, he'll be able to have his potential bumped all the way up to an A.
Yoan Makoundou
Makoundou is another talented European big who's found his way into the NBN Draft and man, the potential looks quite enticing after posting a 20.9/10.6/4.8/2.1 pre-draft stat line. As mentioned in the Draft Preview article, he's 23 and will need to be camped almost perfectly to potentially reach his highest level. With that being said, Makoundou will be eligible to receive four camps his rookie year rather than the original two, erasing his ability to be camped in the final year of his rookie deal, allowing him to be fully camped by the end of his third season rather than having to wait all four years. While the GM who acquires him isn't forced to do this, Makoundou's hard working nature will allow him to get a heads up on the competition.
Toby Knight
Knight out-duelled Dantley and Maxwell multiple times throughout the pre-draft games and looks to be brimming with potential long-term, but didn't get as much love by the Draft Scouting Committee, landing with a B- C+ C- B- C A attribute line. Knight's competitive nature is going to make or break his career, specifically attempting to be the best of the best from this draft class. Throughout his rookie contract, whenever Knight outscores any small forward drafted in this class ahead of him in any game said players play in, he'll be allowed to +1 any attribute free of camp history requirements. On top of that, if Knight manages to land on an All-Rookie team, he'll be given a free +3 to any attribute, also free of camp history requirements.
Scott May
A relatively unheralded prospect who showed his worth in pre draft camps. May will gain equal amounts of free attributes to the amount of playing time bonus potential he gets(if he gets +5 potential he also gets +5 to any rating or split between ratings). Plus any scout he goes to he gets a free +1 to any attribute excluding strength, jumping, quickness, and potential.
Prides himself on his defense and intimidation, for every disqualification that Laimbeer has on his rookie contract, he will be eligible to add +1 to any defensive or rebounding rating.
Michael Ray Richardson
