Pacers GM started the offseason with a quick re-signing of big man duo of Darko Milicic and Tyson Chandler. Darko took a 6 million dollar pay increase while Tyson will stay put at his rookie paylevel Both players are great post defenders and rebounders, and Darko's best years are ahead of him but is already averaging nearly a double double with 3.2 blocks per contest. Between them both, they average 4.7 blocks per game, thats nearly half of the team average of the Supersonics, which currently stand #1 in the league in BPG as a team.
Sharpshooter Leandro Barbosa also agreed to re-sign and decided to take a 2 million dollar paycut. Leandro Barbosa led the team in 3pt% in a very limited role on the team during the 2006-07 season and odds are he will not get an improved role within the team next season.
Unfortunately for Jalen Rose, the team has declined to continue contract talks with him and are looking to put that cap to use on a different player during free agency.
Speaking of free agency, the crop of free agents seem to be thinning with several top free agents like Josh Childress, Antonio Gates, Iakovos Tsakalidis and Dwayne Wade deciding on re-signing with their respective teams. Indiana's management will surely work hard to bring in a new player or two that can help make this franchise into a consistent playoff threat.
