A big body at the 4, Caleb Houstan was not going to get out-muscled in the paint as one of the most high-quality shot blockers at his position in league history, among an uncommon ability to stretch the floor and score offensively. Will this be enough for him to get into the NBN Hall of Fame?

Arguments For Induction
- 3,780 blocks later, Caleb Houstan's illustrious defensive career finally came to an end. Houstan had 3+ stocks for 16 years straight including multiple years of 4.5+ while being one of the league's supreme rebounders at the PF position for over a decade.
- Houstan did more than the average big. He wasn't afraid to shoot and would stretch the floor regularly while always being a 42-43% shooter from the field throughout his prime, which is pretty impressive given the regular sub 40% appearances we see in a lot of bigs now.
- He was a 2x NBN Champion with 829 double doubles, which is incredibly impressive... 10 seasons of double doubles! Houstan was also a 5x All-Leaguer including three All-League First's, 5x All-Defensive, 4x All-Star, and a DPOTY win in 2028. His career was absolutely spectacular.
Arguments Against Induction
- Houstan wasn't an overly impressive offensive player although there was some talent there and you'd be much better off having those shots go to a guard/wing, like many of the other Hall of Fame big candidates we see. He was better than a lot of bigs but not overwhelmingly fun offensively.
- Defensively, he was a beast, but Houstan DQ'd out of 95 games including 10 seasons with 6+. As most paint protectors will do from time to time, he was definitely not the most disciplined player in the world. 1 in every 12 games, you'd get Houstan deciding that he wanted to go hack the opposition, sending teams to the line and fouling out early. Not ideal!
- Big man voting has not been so kind in recent years, rejecting defensive stars like Manny Leaks and James Wiseman. Manny Leaks averaged 2.9 blocks/0.9 steals per game, which is right on par with Houstan's defensive output over his career. Is Houstan's more well-rounded game going to give him the edge?
Vote carefully, and remember to throw out arguments regardless of which side you're on. This should be a discussion that eventually gets the league to the proper decision on him. Your vote can also be retracted after it's been cast if you feel like switching to the other side based on the arguments that have been made. To be inducted, a player needs 70% and to be considered in a later class they need 50%. Vote carefully.
***BONUS - Don't forget that everyone who votes gets $100 and the person that makes the best argument or contributes to the discussion the best will be awarded an extra $100***
