I just would have flipped McHale for as many picks as possible, you won’t be able to get under HC which means Sabonis is on the IR anyways

It’s very clearly unfortunate that the Hawks only have a few hours to figure things out or they could likely do better, although at this point in the season it may be a little difficult to work around getting under and getting value..
Hawks should be fine albeit less food, Wolves clearly win (cap flexibility is king) the trade because they were proactive, good work by John in this situation I guess

He could have done "better" for more of a tank job, or maybe a different set of players. But for the cap to work and the hawks to get a solid replacement for mchale, and a starting SF plus some cash and a pick. I think it touches all bases for what an interim trade should look like. |

I agree I could have done better and even told Rog I know I lost this deal but this made the hawks more well rounded and I got a future asset while possibly helping me get out of Hard cap

not sure what else you could've done at this point with how little time/how few teams have the flexibility to make a move like this
not saying it's a bad thing or whatever it's just unfortunate because i know there were quite a few teams interested before and Dash just didn't like the deals or want to negotiate/have the time to negotiate

Now the question becomes do we allow the Hawks to send the filler acquired here to the Suns(cash acquired here attached) to get them under the cap. To me the deal makes a million times of sense, but its a precedent I'm unsure I want to set.
