YOOOOOOOOOO just got out of Dune Part 2 and holy fuck what an experience. This movie is absolutely, completely made to be seen on the big screen. If you see this shit for the first time on your TV you are doing yourself a disservice. I'm beyond hype right now and legit cannot express a complaint. I'm sure I'll have one, but right now I just don't. Everythign about it hit on every level. The acting? Fucking spectacular. Everyone killed it in a number of different ways. Austin Butler stole every single scene he was in. Timothee Chalamet has arrived, is a certified superstar at this point and this movie is by far the best performance hes ever given and I thought going into this movie already he was a great actor. Commanded every single scene and only the scene he shares with Butler does he ever come remotely close to not being the best actor in the scene. Zendaya, who some people who have read the books might not like what the movie did here be warned, I really appreciated even if I think her performances suffers a bit just by being in so many scenes with Chalamet. The romance here is really well done and I loved where they took her character. But seriously, every actor kills it.
The sound design is fantastic. Every single decision sound wise feels like it was made with love. The sound mix is good, score as amazing, and the things that should be loud really feel loud. Just not because it is loud but because the sound is designed to feel epic. If you can see it in a Dolby-enhanced theater, do it. The art design and cinematography are absolutely top notch. Every single scene in this movie could be a poster, but scenes on Giedi Prime and the entire third act are some of the best looking film making I've seen in a long, long time. The writing, characterizations, and pacing are all perfect as well but some of my actual thoughts veer into spoiler territory so I'll leave it at that. 10/10 movie though.

Any big Star Wars fans? I started in order of timeline last night with Episode 1, just finished Obi Wan series, now onto Andor, Rogue One, then New Hope! Pretty cool Disney + has full timeline.
I don't watch the animated ones though.

Big Star Wars nerd I haven’t dabbled into the shows yet Just finished Fallout show is so good and I played the games super nerd Also the only of the new shows that has been worth it is Andor and Mandalorian and even Mandalorian struggled to justify its existence in its third season. The Boba show was garbage. Obi-Wan had its moments but ultimately spent way too much time on non Obi-Wan/Darth Vader stuff that just didn't work most of the time. Haven't watched Ahsoka yet but have heard similar issues. Clone Wars and Rebels are both good and do good work to flesh out stuff, especially Clone Wars at fleshing out Anakin's journey and descent. I'm excited for The Acolyte as hopefully it being set far off from the Skywalker stuff can give us some good, fresh content. |
