I’m doing the over/under win totals for the season, so figured I would turn it into an article. Here is the Eastern Conference win totals. This was done after preseason 1 and before any major trades.
1. Philadelphia 76ers (58-24) +7 wins
Traded LeBron but got some good depth pieces and we are in for a massive (Potential MVP?) Maxey season. Maxey/Embiid potentially the best duo in the league.
2. Milwaukee Bucks (55-27) +14 wins
Went all in with the acquisition of KD. Need some better injury luck this year. Depth is a little better. Need the trio to carry them. May be a little optimistic here, but I’m rooting for it to work for Milwaukee
3. New Orleans Pelicans (55-27) -3 wins
Deep team but is missing that 1 elite superstar player. Trust in Slough to make a move if needed.
4. Indiana Pacers (54-28) -5 wins
Basically running it back with some minor changes (-Hield, +Melton/Beasley) with a slightly negative TC. I just think some teams may catch up to them this year.
5. Orlando Magic (53-29) +3 wins
SGA time. Depending on the big they find they could jump higher. Lack of Franz explosion is a disappointment
6. Cleveland Cavaliers (46-36) -3 wins
No GM hurt this team this offseason with the lack of moves in FA. Depth will be tested. Roster had a lot of potential
7. Miami Heat (46-36) -10 wins
Copy and paste the Cavs above, but atleast Cavs had a full starting 5. Losing Harden and not replacing him will really hurt this team. Top 4 are still really good though.
8. New York Knicks (46-36) +21 wins
I’m expecting a move, just don’t know if they are buyers or sellers. Kind of a hedge here. If they find the right PG they could jump up a few spots.
9. Brooklyn Nets (44-38) -4 wins
Losing Claxton for nothing hurts. Still think they have a lot of talent. Need to move one of the SFs for a big to level the roster. Missing that star player to elevate an otherwise pretty good team
10. Charlotte Hornets (44-38) -3 wins
a. Hoping for a better season from Brandon Miller. A team that is probably a season away from putting some chips in and trying to make a run, but there is talent on this roster.
11. Washington Wizards (34-48) -2 wins
Too good to tank as currently constructed, but not good enough to be a playoff team. Have 2 nice building blocks atleast in Collier/Bilal
12. Toronto Raptors (32-50) -13 wins
Barnes/Fultz/Beal will win them some games, but are otherwise tanking. Don’t really have any bigs worthwhile. Yourkers is always a wildcard, but I don’t see them completely tanking since they are keeping Barnes and stuck with Beal.
13. Atlanta Hawks (25-57) 0 change
Year 1.5 of the tank. Have some building blocks, but not a lot of veteran talent
14. Detroit Pistons (23-59) -4 wins
Lack of an involved GM holding this team back. Not camping Ausar/Duren last year and questionable draft pick this year will limit this team’s ceiling while rebuilding.
15. Boston Celtics (18-64) -4 wins
Outside of Simons (who’s nothing great), there just isn’t a lot on this roster that is ready to contribute. I expect them to be in the running for #1 pick
