Grizzlies/Magic
Grizzlies Trade: Steven Adams, Derrick Rose
Magic Trade: Hunter Dickinson, Miles McBride, Magic 2028 1st, $750
I received like 4 different offers of similar value for Adams. I was excited for him to come back this season, but on an expiring deal I feel like this was near the top of his market. I was looking for a future pick and Rog is always one that is prone to tear it down and wanting his pick back. Dickinson is a flyer. He has a draft note that I originally thought was more powerful than it is, but I should be able to get him his +3 or +5 on top of the double 1st improvement camp.
Grizzlies/Knicks
Grizzlies Trade: Jaren Jackson Jr, Brandon Clarke
Knicks Trade: Malcolm Brogdon, Alex Len, Nassir Little, Pistons 2026 1st, Cavaliers 2026 1st, Knicks 2026 1st, Knicks 2027 1st
This trade took like 4 days to complete as Knicks thought he had other trades lined up first and when he was eventually able to find a PG (Trae) then we were able to move forward. I was initially trying to find a way to get Mara in the deal, but ultimately we settled on 4 picks and then it was deciding which of the 4. I’ve been back and forth on my feelings on JJJ. He’s a tremendous shot blocker, defender and a theoretical three level scorer. He wasn’t very efficient as a scorer last season and killed me early this season, so the 20ppg is nice, but it’s not helping the team. His lack of rebounding is just a glaring weakness. You would need to have an elite rebounder to pair him with at Center (which I thought I was doing with Adams) and a good rebounder at SF. He also went -1 in TC which is never great. I was fine keeping him if the trade value wasn’t there, but I thought 4 picks was a good return. Late addition of Brandon Clarke to the deal is what I believe solidified the deal for the Knicks.
Grizzlies/Lakers
Grizzlies Trade: Ja Morant, Bruno Fernandez, $500
Lakers Trade: Zach Edey, Keyonte George, Heat 2025 1st, Heat 2026 1st, Lakers 2026 1st, Lakers 2027 1st
Spike has been after Ja for a while. He actually offered a better trade for this pre-draft that I turned down, but at the time I thought I was putting together a contender. Like JJJ, Morant has some huge strengths but some glaring weaknesses. He might be the quickest guy in the league, he’s a plus rebounder and capable of scoring an efficient 30ppg. On the other hand, he’s only an average defender and has a huge ball handling problem. Most of the draft prospects I scouted this year had higher handling than him and it’s just really hard to build a contender with a PG with bad handling. As the league gets more inflated, I don’t know that he’ll be able to keep up. I knew I was going to be able to flip Edey for a pick, so I was getting 5 picks and a PG prospect back. I don’t love George, but his stat line has been pretty good and there is atleast a shot that he’s my long term solution at PG. The sticking point was when Spike wanted Bruno to complete the deal. I initially pushed back, but in the end I caved in and included him to get the deal done.
Grizzlies/Jazz
Grizzlies Trade: Zach Edey
Jazz Trade: Jaden Springer, Jazz 2027 1st
Joseph has been after Edey since pre-draft and as soon as he found out I was acquiring him, he offered me a future pick. I’m at the point where I am stacking assets to rebuild this team and feel there is more trade value in a future pick than Edey
Grizzlies/Raptors
Grizzlies Trade: Victor Oladipo, Miles McBride, Raptors 2026 1st, Heat 2026 1st, Pistons 2026 1st, Magic 2028 1st , $1500
Raptors Trade: Scottie Barnes, Kyle Anderson
This one came together rather quickly. We had a quick initial conversation of Bane+ or Ja+ but realized we weren’t very close to a trade. Once I was able to do the Lakers trade this morning we tagged back up and Yourkers was ready to do an all picks type of deal. He’s been after his Raptors 26 pick back for a week or so. All 3 other picks were acquired in these sets of trade. I think the Heat/Pistons picks have potential to be lotto and who knows with the Magic. I feel like this was a decent return. On the flip side, I hope it makes sense to acquire Barnes right now. He’s a pending FA and he’s going to make my own pick worse this season, but if I didn’t strike now I wasn’t sure if yourkers would have moved him later on. SF is extremely weak and getting a guy with A- defense and B- rebounding can be a huge advantage. He’s only 23yo and think him and Bane can be a top wing duo for the foreseeable future. This is the riskiest of the moves that I made.

Look holistically at the trades. I feel like a Morant/Adams for Barnes type of move is of equal value or close to it (maybe add in 1 more asset with Morant). You can swap the Raptors 26 with like the Heat 25. I essentially was able to move JJJ/Clarke/Bruno/$1250 for what turns out to be 6 draft picks and 2 prospects (George/Dickinson). I free’d up a ton of cap space for next season (Currently $88m). This could all backfire though if I end up losing Barnes in FA. Overall I think most of the trades were equal value. I don’t think any of them were lopsided. Most importantly I had a TON of fun with all of the negotiating over the past 3 days and set myself up to have a lot more fun in a few weeks when I try and rebuild this roster to compete in 2025 with all of the draft picks I have to move.
