1. Over the last 2 seasons, you’ve had arguably the most consistent roster and one of the best. Why do you think your team has fallen short?
The first year it was FBB randomness. Winning that many games and losing in the first round is the only way I could chalk that up. Last season ran into a stacked 76ers team who ended up winning it all. I also did have a big hole at SG last season. Playoffs are a crapshoot but anybody with a head on their shoulders knew the 76ers would win last season after making the moves they did.
2. SG has (somewhat) been a weak spot on your lineup the last 2 seasons and you brought in Cam Thomas. With Cam coming in, you now have a hole at SF. What’s your plan going into this season and will you be looking to upgrade that spot?
Definitely looking to upgrade that spot. I am in contact with a few different gms to acquire one. I dont need a guy who is going to score much I feel IQ back to his backup role will get more scoring out of him. I just want a guy who will shoot efficiently and play defense and rebound. Should be able to win 50 with adding a solid role player. Sucks nobody took my MLE, guys like OG and Bogdanovic decided elsewhere.
3. Where would you rank Haliburton amongst the best PGs in the league? What makes him so good?
I think he is top 3 maybe 4. Tyrese is just a great all around PG. He can score and does it efficiently. He does lack the defense, but he has improved every season through TC. His rebounds are above average for the position and he sets his teammates up for success. Not much more you can ask of a PG. Great player.
4. Both of your starting bigs are pretty good, but neither provide much on the offensive end. Do you think that could be part of the problem why your team has not achieved the ultimate goal?
I dont think this is a problem at all. Been gming for a good amount of time and all the championships I have won my bigs just defended and rebounded. Thats the recipe for success, sure if I had an elite big that did that and scored it would be easier, but those dont grow on trees.
5. Looks like after this season, you will begin having your 1sts. Will you look to retool next offseason or try to use those picks to just add to your current roster?
That all depends on what I can get. I dont really like rebuilding in a league this slow paced. Feels like pulling teeth, but eventually I will have to at least re-tool. My core is fairly young so I am expecting a few more seasons of 50+ wins. Lets hope I dont go full on tank.
6. 2 seasons into the new league, what’s your thoughts on NBN being back? What’s the one thing that you missed the most while we were in our hiatus? What’s one thing you hope to see as we move forward?
I like the league being back, the GMs that are active are very active. I missed the competitiveness mostly. The league has different GMs then I usually play fbb with so it is a different feel. Good for me. I want to see all the teams filled instead of some guys having 2 teams, not a fan of that at all tbh.
7. Give me your thoughts on the contracts that we currently have throughout the league? In your opinion, is cap space as important as it used to be with the contracts that are being thrown around?
Some of these contracts are wild. I did overpay for Cam Thomas, but I thought I would be bringing Kawhi back as well so I threw some max contracts out to SGs.I think it is very important to have cap space we have seen a lot of player movement and that is good for activity.
8. With the lack of inflation currently throughout the league, what is one position that you think is the most valuable to build your team around and why?
I think building a team that can block shots is the most important with the lack of inflation. It is the biggest indicator of a good defensive team. Rebounding is up there as well. I like plus rebounders at every position. More possessions usually means more wins. Scoring will always be inflated because of the pace and outside focus so you can have a guy avg 20 easily at certain positions. If I started IQ he would probably avg 23 points per game.
9. Whether or not you have had any draft picks yet, what’s your thoughts on the 2 drafts we have had? Along the same lines, would you like to see more notes going forward?
If I am being honst, I have not looked at any of the notes or players drafted. I traded my picks so I didnt even bother. Notes are always a good thing. One thing another league I am in does is the commisioner will let guys ask about draftees and he would give a generic answer for it. Say I wanted to know about a guys handles he would say they are mediocre which would mean between a certain number.
10. What’s your honest opinion on interim GMs? Do you think it’s a downfall of the league or leagues can continue with a handful of GMs overseeing 2 teams?
As previous stated I do not like it. Idk if it will be the downfall, but I think working on filling those teams would be the best moving forward. It is a weird concept Ive never seen before. I still enjoy the league.
