1. The roster finally looks like it’s ready to take the next step. Give me your thoughts on the roster and what the ceiling is for this team?
I love the roaster. Ja and Reaves were solid last year and carried us to a 50 win season. Now we have added Jaylen brown and inproved our Center spot with Looney. I think after 50 wins and adding a player with Browns talent we have to think we are ready to compete with the big dogs. Does that mean title? Maybe I don’t think I’d say not winning the title means the season would be a loss but I think we are ready.
2. Talk me through the deal for Ja Morant. Why did you feel he was worth 5 firsts and can he lead a team to a title with those turnovers?
So it was only 4 firsts for Ja and honestly don’t think any of the picks of been good so far. Heat won 45+ last year and I won 50. Heat pick this year may be eh but mine will be mid 20s again. I really don’t think I gave up much to get him and he was still so young. One of my favorite players in the league so I was glad to get him. He also improved his outside shot in TC which is huge. His TOs are no fun but I don’t think they’re a stoper of him winning us a title.
3. Do you think you have capable bigs down low to be a true contender or is that a spot that you will look to upgrade as the season begins?
It’s been a spot in trying to upgrade that’s for sure but I think we can more than handle our own down low. We proved it last year our bigs played solid D and we have improved from Goga to Looney so I think I’m looking to improve PF first
4. You’ve given Jalen Hood-Schifino a ton of praise over the last 2 seasons. After another good TC, what do you think his ceiling is?
I just think he’s a stud, I’ve had multiple GMs ask me if he’s available and just his size and ability to backup the PG spot I think makes him the perfect super sub. I’m getting lucky with some TC luck with him but it’s hard to argue a 23 year old with B+ outside handles and defense
5. Where would you rank your trio of Ja, Reaves, and Brown relative to others around the league?
It’s gotta be up there I’d think. We are talking about close to 80 points between the 3 and all 28 or younger I just love the core we have currently and how I was able to make this lineup exactly what I wanted.
6. 2 seasons into the new league, what’s your thoughts on NBN being back? What’s the one thing that you missed the most while we were in our hiatus? What’s one thing you hope to see as we move forward?
Love it, I missed it dearly that’s for sure. I missed just being able to talk trades with the guys or just logging in my free time and seeing if someone has posted an article. Just keeps the day flowing and I’m happy we are back. I hope we bring back things like PED camps and I would honestly love the bring back of eliminating contract years with cash. Have thoughts on both and maybe that’s an article I bring forward later but think we can tweak both and make them work
7. Give me your thoughts on the contracts that we currently have throughout the league? In your opinion, is cap space as important as it used to be with the contracts that are being thrown around?
Some teams throw cap around like crazy and I just don’t think they see the big picture. Take the Knicks for example, Clayton won DPOTY and bam was handed in my opinion a bad deal. Dude gunna be making 50+ mill averaging 11 points a game. Just not worth it in my opinion. These teams that are signing these deals are already shopping them because they realize it’s hard to build a team around a guy making 50 mill.
8. With the lack of inflation currently throughout the league, what is one position that you think is the most valuable to build your team around and why?
It’s PG and I think it always will be. Dominant PGa run this league and think if you can grab a young one( like Luka SGA or Ja) you should hang onto them. I’ve seen draft picks come in and just not improve how they should. I’ll take the for sure guy any day of the week.
9. Whether or not you have had any draft picks yet, what’s your thoughts on the 2 drafts we have had? Along the same lines, would you like to see more notes going forward?
Drafts have been okay, big name guys then a lot of average players but the later picks seem to be improving via tc more than the top guys so I guess that’s not a bad thing. Yeah I big a note guy do the more the better in my opinion. Camps aren’t as great as they once were and just think notes help turn these players into the picks they deserve to be.
10. What’s your honest opinion on interim GMs? Do you think it’s a downfall of the league or leagues can continue with a handful of GMs overseeing 2 teams?
I don’t see how it’s a downfall in any way. If you really want a team to just not have a GM and fall apart like the warriors and Cavs did then I don’t see your competitive nature. Plus interim GMs allow the other teams to trade for those teams instead of having 4 ghost GMs. Plus young guys get camped how they should and I think that helps Free agency in the future for every team
