1. Fresh off a title winning season, what’s your thoughts on how your team performed vs what your expectations were prior to the season?
I expected to be a competing team when i took the Sixers and honestly would've been disappointed if i couldn't win one starting out with Embiid & Maxey. After the Ingram & LaVine trades, i thought this was my best shot since it didn't seem sustainable with the cap. Happy we were able to pull it off!
2. Awards and bias aside, is Tyrese Maxey the best PG in the league? What makes him so elite and separates him from others?
I think he is with Luka being 2nd. What sets him apart is the low turnovers. He can score and assist as well as any PG in the league but nobody can do it while taking care of the ball like him.
3. Over the last 2 seasons, what has been your favorite move that you have made? What has been your least favorite move?
I think the Lebron for Stewart and Bogdanovic trade was my best move so far. It extended my window when my team was basically set up for just a 1 year run. My least favorite was probably the move to get Lebron originally or the PG trade. I leveraged my whole future for short term players but i guess it all worked out.
4. What was behind your move to trade Lavine, who had just helped you win a title, for Vassell, who has had success, but has never played on a winning team?
I wanted someone around Maxey's age to extend my window. Embiid is getting into his 30s but Ingram is in his prime and Maxey, Vassell, and Stewart are all young and improving. This team should be set up to compete long term. I also love Vassell's contract which helps with Embiid making over $50m and Ingram expiring this year.
5. Who is your biggest competition in this upcoming season regardless of conference?
The Grizzlies look incredible after their offseason moves. I think they're the best team in the West now. In the East, the Pacers are always good and look setup to compete long term too.
6. 2 seasons into the new league, what’s your thoughts on NBN being back? What’s the one thing that you missed the most while we were in our hiatus? What’s one thing you hope to see as we move forward?
I love tinkering with my team, talking trades, and trying to find advantages to win. I really like the group of GMs we have here and missed the community while we were on hiatus. I hope we can get a full league and either bring back guys who dropped off or some fresh faces to shake thinga up a bit. I think a lot of the new guys we brought on for this version brought a new dynamic which has been good and we've generally avoided drama this time around.
7. Give me your thoughts on the contracts that we currently have throughout the league? In your opinion, is cap space as important as it used to be with the contracts that are being thrown around?
I don't really get the big deal. The cap is higher, so the deals are bigger. It's still the same % of salary cap, so it's not really any different than before. I generally dislike FA and do most of my work through the draft or trades, so I've never valued cap space that highly.
8. With the lack of inflation currently throughout the league, what is one position that you think is the most valuable to build your teamb around and why?
PG is always gonna be important in this game, but it’s also a pretty stacked position. It’s not easy to find an elite shot blocking and rebounding big at this stage and thats probably 2nd most important for team success, so id probably go with that.
9. Whether or not you have had any draft picks yet, what’s your thoughts on the 2 drafts we have had? Along the same lines, would you like to see more notes going forward?
I haven't had any picks so i haven't paid as close attention to them but it does feel like the draft classes are a little deflated compared to the top rookies when we started. Flagg looks like he'll be the first drafted superstar in this league and overall i think this class had a lot of interesting players. I like the draft notes but understand were trying to keep ratings deflated. I hated seeing the Rookie potential bonuses go.
10. What’s your honest opinion on interim GMs? Do you think it’s a downfall of the league or leagues can continue with a handful of GMs overseeing 2 teams?
I think they're a necessary evil. I don't like GMs having 2 teams but I'd rather that than just letting teams rot. Ideally, we'd have a full league but if thats not possible, interims make the league more competitive than empty spots
