1. You got a lot of shit last offseason with the Nic Claxton deal. After a year in and seeing some of the offers that were thrown around this offseason, what’s your thoughts on his contract?
I mean a max is max. Not a lot of bigs in the league averaging 13/13/3 and especially with these maxes thrown out only makes his contract look better. I said it last year too when Pascal Siakam was given a max. Hes not old either.
2. Aday Mara looks like a steal of a pick. What makes him so special and what’s his ceiling in this league?
I drafted Aday Mara in another league that died and I drafted him 1st so I was assuming he was gonna be good. He averaged 10/13/2 as a rookie before any camps so im hoping this ceiling is somewhere around 16-18ppg 12rpg and 2-3bpg
3. Explain the Brandon Ingram trade at the end of last season. Why were you so hell bent on moving Ingram and why did you feel the return was valid?
I didn't have the cash or salary to offer another max contract due to me being dumb and not using my amnesty on Josh Hart. I also needed more depth to the roster and cap flexibility. I knew DJ Wagner was going to take over the scoring anyway soon and am not a fan of SF's that do not play defense or rebound. All of last season I watched Ingram drop 25 and allow 25 back. Ingram wasn't part of my future with Mara/Wagner so I had to get some cap flexibility and depth sooner rather than later.
4. While the roster hasn’t won the games you’d hoped, you seem to have hit on your picks last year. DJ Wagner looks great. What are you expecting from him in year 2?
He's finally going to start and be a top option next to Trae Young. I am going to start him and also Aday Mara for the first sim and see how the big man depth goes but I'm hoping to see a 25PPG season from Wagner at least.
5. Without your picks for the next 2 seasons, what’s your plan to upgrade your roster and move into that contention category out East?
I think for the next 2 seasons depending on Wagner/Mara's development, I am just going to stand pat and stay in the 4-8 seed position. Mara and Wagner still have their camps left which is huge. I'm hoping a Shaq/Kobe duo out of them.
6. 2 seasons into the new league, what’s your thoughts on NBN being back? What’s the one thing that you missed the most while we were in our hiatus? What’s one thing you hope to see as we move forward?
Honestly this is my first NBN I've ever been in. Am interested in any leagues and always give my 110%. Hope to see the league continue to run and somehow find ways to find new GMs so we dont have this interim gm shit
7. Give me your thoughts on the contracts that we currently have throughout the league? In your opinion, is cap space as important as it used to be with the contracts that are being thrown around?
Its 2024 contracts, what dd you expect? I knew that there would be crazy maxes being thrown out to nobodies. Thats why I maxed Claxton first year, also knew I wouldnt have cap any other year.
8. With the lack of inflation currently throughout the league, what is one position that you think is the most valuable to build your team around and why?
Its always gonna be the position hardest to get and what the league lacks of and here its SF and SG. If a team can get a dominant SG + SF its over for the league. Other than that its always smart to have a high ppg low apg and low turnover PG to build with. Then bigs, I don't like having bigs that can't block or rebound.
9. Whether or not you have had any draft picks yet, what’s your thoughts on the 2 drafts we have had? Along the same lines, would you like to see more notes going forward?
Its been pretty perfect honestly, not too inflated, players becoming great whether #1 or #28 just like it could happen in real life. I am very happy with Mara/Wagner's development so far. I only drafted in 1 draft but I feel like I drafted in 2.
10. What’s your honest opinion on interim GMs? Do you think it’s a downfall of the league or leagues can continue with a handful of GMs overseeing 2 teams?
Honestly, I hate it. Especially when one GM has 2 teams even though they don't even make any moves with their current team. I hate it. Makes a lot of people help each other out. Not a fan of it, never seen it before.
