Since UC decided he didn't want to finish the article, I'll post what I sent him last week.
Midwest Division
Dallas Mavericks
Favorite Move: Not paying Giddey what he commanded. Like the player, but think he’s best suited as a backup and with that contract, he’s not worth it.
Least Favorite Move: Not using the available cap space. Whether or not it was for Giddey, 50 mil is a nice chunk to leave on the table.
Denver Nuggets
Favorite Move: Taking Yves Missi. Liked him in the draft and liked him even more where he was picked by Michael.
Least Favorite Move: I guess not capitalizing on the big three and taking offers. I think this team has hit it’s peak and while Jokic is awesome, I’m not sure they can get over the hump.
Houston Rockets
Favorite Move: Picking Trey Alexander at 7. Much older than the other PGs available, but the most well-rounded. Think he’ll be a stud.
Least Favorite Move: Resigning Jalen Green to that contract. Think the deal had to be offered but paying him 60 mil down the line could be a big issue.
Minnesota Timberwolves
Favorite Move: Taking Stephon Castle at pick 13. The outside could be a huge issue, but if that ever gets up to B, he could be a nice starter. Should end up an elite defender.
Least Favorite Move: Contract extension for Jalen Suggs. The Giddey one could end up being very bad, but at least he still has the potential and took a nice outside jump. Can’t see the Suggs deal ending up worthy.
San Antonio Spurs
Favorite Move: The Derrion Reid pick. Really liked him a lot and actually debated him at pick 5. Think he has a really nice build at the PF position.
Least Favorite Move: Would have liked to see him stretch out that cap space this offseason. He took back some bad deals for cash, but coulda gone a lot farther with the FA class we had.
Utah Jazz
Favorite Move: Drafting Egor Demin at 19. Loved the pick and think he has a good shot to be a very good player.
Least Favorite Move: Not making any moves I guess? Joseph had some cap space, although not a lot, but woulda hoped he made some type of deal this offseason.
Memphis Grizzlies
Favorite Move: Trading for SGA. UC made a big deal last year sending out Ja and in no time replaces him with an arguably better player. This was the final piece of the puzzle after all the other moves.
Least Favorite Move: Clear nitpicking and not a move I’d consider remotely bad, but using all cap space for the Gobert deal.
Central Division
Golden State Warriors
Favorite Move: Signing Kawhi and Jonas in FA. Both guys should command a decent rebuilding package which is the direction this team is headed.
Least Favorite Move: Don’t have any! This team was in a rough spot post-Steph retirement, but now they have Cheddar!
Los Angeles Clippers
Favorite Move: Drafting Dink Pate at 4. He was the guy I was targeting at pick 5, so obviously I think pretty highly of him. Think he’ll be a nice complement to the bigs out in LA.
Least Favorite Move: Not using all of their cap space or at least some to gain more assets. Seems like a common theme among the rebuilders.
Los Angeles Lakers
Favorite Move: Signing Jaylen Brown. While the contract may be a lot towards the end, they. Needed a legit 2nd/3rd option and now they have a really good trio from 1-3.
Least Favorite Move: Sexton on the MLE? I guess. I like most of the moves that Spike did this offseason.
Phoenix Suns
Favorite Move: Signing Bojan to MLE. Unfortunately, they have a interim GM now, but like the move to get a scoring SF.
Least Favorite Move: Think this team overachieved drastically in the playoffs, so would have liked to see if they could have tore down some of the roster to set it up better for future success.
Portland Trailblazers
Favorite Move: Trading for Jayson Tatum. Top 5 player and best at the SF position. Instantly puts them into the playoffs regardless of other moves.
Least Favorite Move: Not getting better rebounders. Like the build of this team, but worry that they aren’t going to rebound the ball well enough.
Sacramento Kings
Favorite Move: Drafting Donovan Clingan. Really wanted him to drop to the second round, but think he’s going to be a really nice big in this league.
Least Favorite Move: Not making more moves to upgrade the SG position. Monk is a nice stop-gap, but think that’s the one spot this team needs a boost. They need a legit 2nd option behind Fox.
Oklahoma City Thunder
Favorite Move: Drafting Kyle Filipowski. He had a good TC and has a nice build for a guy who can backup multiple positions.
Least Favorite Move: Trading Jayson Tatum. Hard to get true value for the best player at a position that is rough right now.
