1. You recently joined back after a couple of seasons of the new league. What's your thoughts on the state of the league?
I mean I just got here, but it is certainly more chill than it ever was in my time in 2.0. Possibly because certain characters aren't here or maybe because the lack of rules or other benefits that us GMs would shamelessly exploit. All-in-all its just nice to be back.
2. After taking over Detroit, you decided to make a couple of win-now moves that included trading your first this season in a deal for Lauri. Why did you decide to go that route?
I decided I probably wasn't going to get an offer I liked for Giannis. With him on the team I found it unlikely with being in the east that it would become a lotto pick. Trading for Lauri for a pick I see at best being in the 15-20 range, $500, and a prospect that won't be active for another 2 seasons seems like a win to me. Lauri's contract is also nice for what he is imo, plus side is it expires in three seasons, so if by then I haven't made the boneheaded decision to trade away my picks lile in 2.0, it'll be perfect timing for an actual tank.
Will say however, I was a bit sad to let Diagne go. A low scoring high defensive stock efficency big is a project I love. That note would've been fun.
3. Your team is stacked down low, but is reatively thin everywhere else. What will you look for to upgrade your guard and small forward play?
Hard to say with little cap space to play with, as far as the small forward position goes I think I'm fine. Ausar Thompson is by no mean a scorer, however he is an elite rebounder and defender at his position. Tbh it would probably be better to run him as the 3,4,5 backup, hell his blocking decently greater than Duren's last season. Although I don't know how much TC effected the difference.
If I were to make changes I'd likely look towards PG or SG position, although I'm perfectly fine rolling out what I got now. However, I should probably at one point see how a Cunningham + Ivey pairing would perform. Would have to imagine a decent increase in scoring.
4. Without a true center on this roster, do you think Giannis can give you enough to carry this team to a playoff spot?
Last quarter of the season last year I actually made that switch of Giannis to the C and Duren at PF. Felt like his turnovers went down a small margin, he is a great rebounder and produces a decent amount of stocks. I think it'll be fine, I'm more concerned about my wing positions at the moment.
5. If there's one player in the league that you could trade for right now and add to the Pistons roster, who would it be and why?
Wembamyama, just so I could let him rot in a meaningless internet sim league so some cock slobbering SA fan somewhere can feel they should be dissappointed.
6. Heading into season 4, the Sixers will be looking for a three peat, which has only happened once, dating back to the original NBN. If there is 1 team out there who can take the defending champs down, who is it and why?
I'll be cocky here and say the East will come down to a between the Sixers and us Pistons, and let me tell you...
You know they say all teams are created equal, but you look at Pistons and you look at 76ers and you can see that statement is not true. See, normally if you go five on five against another team, you got a 50-50 chance of winning. But we have the Greek Freak and Markkanen is not normal, so the Sixers got a 25 percent—at best—at beating us Pistons. And then you add Desmond Bane to the mix, your chances of winning drastically go down. You see, the Eastern Conference Playoffs, you got a 12.5% chance of winning. But the Pistons, we got a 87.5% chance of winning cause the rest of the Eastern Conference knows they can’t beat Ausar Thompson and Ben Simmons combo and they're not even gonna try. So the Sixers, can take their 12.5% chance, minus our 25 percent chance if were to pl and they got an negative 12 and 1/2 chance of winning in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. But then you take our 75 percent chance of winning if we was to play in the conference finals and then add the 87.5 percent chance, we got a 162.5% chance of winning the conference. See carmelo, the numbers don’t lie and they spell disaster for the Sixers in the playoffs!!
7. We've seen some top prospects struggle early on since the league has restarted, especially after some rough training camps. What are your thoughts on how the draft classes have looked on the court? Is the lack of success a product of the drafts or the randomness of FBB?
Honestly I haven't really looked into the draft or previous classes much. I will say it does seem like some late round talent has an easier time developing. Could just be a mix very luck TCs though.
8. We have not seen the worst regular season team be gifted the number 1 pick in the draft so far. Do you think there's to say that maybe full on tanking isn't necessary or even worth it with the way our lotteries have fallen so far?
Unless those top 3 worst records consistently fall out of the top 5 I don't see a reason to not full on tank if you don't see yourself being any type competetive. But once again I'm kind of out of the loop about this.
9. There has been some discussion about potentially bringing PED camps back to the league. What's your thoughts on a) the camp itself and b) would it immediately lead to a more inflated league? Would there be a way we could introduce it that would be beneficial to the health of the league?
It adds some fun to the league, but will say it can become a little too advantageous for mostly those non-poverty franchises that can toss money around for fun. Would say the player ban rule would need to be tweaked. Maybe rather than make the 40-60% players ban there should be like a random drug test throughout the season witha 100% pass or fail. So either everyone getz popped or no one does. Just leave the roll of the dice to that.
10. Bam Adebayo was given a max deal that will pay him over 70 mil in his last year. With where a player has to be experience wise to be given a contract like this, can you foresee any players that are worth 70 million in the future? Who and why?
I mean if Wemby or Luka happen to be FA at that age, they'll likely get something ridiculous. Who knows maybe the recent #1 overall pick Cameron Boozer might just develop into an absolute stud. Tbh fon't who or when the next one will be, but there is usually a GM or two that is willing to make an outrageous deal in pursuit of championship contending team.
