1. You made a big trade to bring in Jaylen Brown this offseason. What does he bring to the table that this roster hasn't had over the first few seasons?
Brown brings elite scoring at the 3 which i haven't had. Whitmore and Thompson never developed into scorers for me which was hard to swallow, thought one of them would've panned out for me. Thought the value for him was too good for what i gave up, but hasn't been leading to the amount of wins I want so far...
2. You decided not to resign Jabari Smith after a disappointing first few years. Why did you decide to go another direction?
Ware changed things, i think ware+sengun fits better than smith sengun. Ware hasn't hit the top end i expected but is a better defender/rebounder than smith in my book. I needed that more than scoring from my 2nd post with sengun.
3. Your Rockets have yet to make the playoffs since the restart despite a promising young roster. Why do you think the team hasn't had much success and what do you want to do to fix it?
I think i haven't hit a home run in tc and underestimated the Camping changes. Thought i could still build and camp players to be impactful. I don't think that's a reliable thing anymore. I still feel i am camping the right way, but again no reliable growth. I also have not been as active due to work/personal stuff but i don't know if it would've made me a contender. I'll ride with sengun and green most likely and see if i can compete if not im gonna have to tank for real.
4. Trey Alexander had a really good rookie year and looks poised to be one of the good young PGs in the league. What do you think his ceiling is?
Without a stud mentor i don't think camps can make him an elite TRUE PG. I think he has the versatility to be an elite or close to elite combo guard. Has good inside game decent rebounding for a PG Think he could peak as a fringe 3rd team all nbn don't think he can get higher than that.
5. Kel'el Ware looks to be headed to becoming a very good young big, with Sengun holding down the fort at center, where does Ware fit into your future plans?
Ware was gonig to be my defensive/rebounding specialist but TC helped Sengun in that area and helped ware in scoring some. Im prolly playing them out of position and should put ware at the 5 instead.
I think ware could be a rocket for a long time if he doesn't demand top dollar. Will be interesting to see if he makes a jump in his last year of rookie deal.
6. Heading into season 4, the Sixers will be looking for a three peat, which has only happened once, dating back to the original NBN. If there is 1 team out there who can take the defending champs down, who is it and why?
I think right now its the raptors they have the depth in their front court to handle Embiid. I think defensively the sixers do have the upper hand in the back court. It would be a super fun matchup but would be more epic to see a western team bring them down.
7. We've seen some top prospects struggle early on since the league has restarted, especially after some rough training camps. What are your thoughts on how the draft classes have looked on the court? Is the lack of success a product of the drafts or the randomness of FBB?
I think its a change to camping and tampering down the depth of drafts simultaneously. I would've preferred one or the other incrementally. I personally think part of the fun of nbn is molding players to what you want. The current meta its hard to do that. Your at the will of TC and Draft creation. The lottery has been decent to me but ware/alexander have not boomed. If you aren't top3 or got a stud in the creation draft its some tough sledding for you. Almost forgot, ped and weightroom are gone as well. Can't retool or stay mid like previous iterations and will lead to teams tanking often imo.
8. We have not seen the worst regular season team be gifted the number 1 pick in the draft so far. Do you think there's to say that maybe full on tanking isn't necessary or even worth it with the way our lotteries have fallen so far?
Full on tanking is your best shot, see my previous answers. Unless you get super lucky in FA or can turn a mid first rounder to a surefire player, i would tank hard and tank often.
9. There has been some discussion about potentially bringing PED camps back to the league. What's your thoughts on a) the camp itself and b) would it immediately lead to a more inflated league? Would there be a way we could introduce it that would be beneficial to the health of the league?
a)Makes it fun, has randomness and isn't a big of a deal as some made it in previous iterations. TC could wipe your +5 away easily.
b)relatively yes it would "inflate" the league, but like my previous answers i think the middle class of this league needs some ways to improve their prospects. lots of checks to camps and PED already specifically: ban risk/suspension/costs cash/tc blows it away. I think you could scale the ban punishment. maybe based on the deal they are on/age. Older players caught with PEDs increase their age by 5 (should decline them faster). Rookie deal players lose potential/resign potential/camping availability/no trade. Could also introduce teams getting banned from PEDing if caught or sent too many times. I think it would be better to buff camping or players in the back end of the lottery.
10. Bam Adebayo was given a max deal that will pay him over 70 mil in his last year. With where a player has to be experience wise to be given a contract like this, can you foresee any players that are worth 70 million in the future? Who and why?
Haven't been around enough to know off the top of my head, but id bet Joseph will pay Luka whatever. Seems like Tyrese maxey could get that kinda deal on an open market as well.
Thanks for the questions and it looks like the Rockets are blasting off again!
