1. After another exciting offseason in Toronto, you find yourself atop the East. What has been the biggest reason why your team has started off so hot?
Jokic. Plain and simple he has been the difference from being good to being great. His addition has been unreal and him taking the offensive rings has just been special. Add in I have one of the best defensive players in Wembanyama, they play off each other so well and Toronto is loving every second of it.
2. You moved Jalen Brunson without having a PG in place, but then traded for Dejounte. Why does he fit so well with this roster?
I just love that defensive edge and size he brings to the table. He fits in perfectly as a second option as his scoring has always been under appreciated and he seemed to play out of position a lot. So now he can focus on being the best pg he can be and he is taking full advantage of it.
3. You traded for Kiyan in a big deal this offseason. He's obviously not ready, but hasn't held the team back from winning. Will he be enough come playoff time?
Come playoff time it will be Thompson time to take the reins and be the starting SF. I got Anthony because I felt he had the chance to be really good adding his note. So I am playing him till I know that note hits and then I will unleash the defensive wizard in Thomson. His added defense will only add to our great defense and I can't wait to see how it looks.
4. Abraham Joum Maker Bol is an interesting prospect that didn't have the TC he shoulda. What do you think his future is in this league?
I feel Bol is gonna be a great backup C/PF for years to come. With his base of B B- I feel he will continue to grow defensively and as a rebounder to take over for edey once he is ready. I wish his TC could have been better after a Jokic mentor but sometimes it takes a little while longer.
5. Are you more worried about the Sixers, Wizards, or Magic in the East? And why?
If I have to choose I would say the Wizards because they knock me out the playoffs last year. They seem to have my number and it will continue to be a pain in my ass. But the 76ers are still playing amazingly without Embiid and the magic have one hell of a defense. So the East playoffs gonna be unreal this year.
6. It seems like we have over half of the league not actively trying to compete. This has always been an issue, but can you think of a way to incentivize teams to try and win a bit more?
remember the 20 win rule. That kept teams in line some and would force you to be decent at least. But when it comes to tanking you want to be the worst you can be so it is hard to tell a team win this amount of games to get a reward. Shit the best reward is getting that 1st pick. So yeah it's a double edge sword when it comes to tanking.
7. There have been some huge trades since the start of the new league that have netted 6, 7, or 8 firsts for a player. Do you think the value of a first rounder has decreased or are teams just star hunting while inflation hasn't kicked in yet?
I think a first is devalued and player value is up. A guy like Wemb who is a game changer was worth every penny and even though this last pick from the Bucks became number 1 I still think I won the trade. I really love how rog has built the drafts so inflation hasn't really hit and it's way more realistic. So getting those stars are a must because I don't think we will have too many jokic types in the league and that's the way it should be.
8. PGs still reign supreme in FBB's eyes, but the value of a big man has stayed super high with the new league. If you had to choose between a guy like Tyrese Maxey or Victor Wembanyama to start your team with, who would it be and why?
I am biased because I would chose Wembanyama because I am a Spurs fan. I also think it is harder to find a true big and more PGs around that you can win with. But if the 76ers win without Embiid it will show an elite PG is a must to win. So this year is the true test to see who you should choose.
9. All of the top rookies had pretty good TCs to start their careers. With your current roster build, if you could take any rookie off another team, who would it be and why?
The way my roster is built right now I would go with AJ Dybantsa as he is gonna be an unreal stud and an upgrade at SF where there isn't many great ones is the easy choice. He would make my team dangerous.
10. Give me your East winner, West winner, and Champsionship winner predicitons half way through the season?
East winner is me the Toronto Raptors. Think I finally have the proper team to make that run and West I am going with the Grizz as that roster is too good to not make a finals. The winner will be the raptors as Jokic can't be matched and he finally wins his much deserved finals mvp
