Delusional or delicately placed?! Feel free to let me know below! I'll be ranking the top 10 prospects of each position.
NOTE: A prospect is defined as a player that is 24 years or younger and has 0-3 years of experience
Let's get into the PG rankings heading into the 2028 season.
10. Earl Boykins - Hornets
To start the count down, lets roll with Earl coming in at 10. He had a decent TC and is rocking a B outside and B+ handles afterwards. These are promising ratings for a rookie, and during preseason he seems to have figured out the offensive side of the ball. Let's see how he grows (Get it cause he's short) as a player.
9. Chris Paul II - Bucks
Don't love what I have seen of CP2. Not a great training camp in his rookie year and despite his A- handles he is turning it over 4 times a game. If he isn't able to manage a game, I find it hard to believe that he will see the court much. However, he is a Paul and I bet has some decent potential left in him to improve.
8. Kaimani Ganub - Lakers
Now we have the Laker's Ganub who like Earl, has some growing to do. Being 4 years younger at just 18 years I like my chances with him. With one more TC as a teenager, I think he has more potential to pop off than the prior 2 rookies on the list. Wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be a dynamite scorer as a 6th man.
7. Tahaad Pettiford - Spurs
Intriguing player we have at #7 with Pettiford. Heading into his fourth season he seems to be on course to be a backup PG if he wants to win. He struggles to take care of the ball as he is pushing nearly 4 turnovers per game. On the other side of the ball, he is an average defender that has no knack for getting rebounds.
6. Darryn Peterson - Mavs
Big fan of Peterson and almost took him with the first pick in this years draft. Something about a soon to be elite defender and rebounder out of a 6'11'' PG. The only down side to him was his handles rating. Upon scouts I saw a number that I figured would transfer to 3+ turnovers a game--Which ultimately scared me off of him. If he can recover that handles rating I think he will have a promising career.
5. Caleb Foster - Blazers
An older 2nd round pick prospect hits the list at 5 with the Blazers Foster. He is coming off a nice 20/8/5 season with less than 3 turnovers per game. Big fan of how solid this guy is while only making a light milly. Hopefully Afro (WELCOME BACK) can pump camps into him the next two seasons and get him looking real nice.
4. Bronny James - Thunder
Such an interesting player we have here with Bronny. His handles are SHIT and he is unable to run PG due to him being a complete liability. This forces the Thunder play him out on the wing, yet he is ELITE out there. Last season he was good for 3 steals a game and 8 boards which is STAGGERING. On the offensive side of things I like his B A- scoring, but it seems like he doesn't have the volume to put up shots outside of running point.
3. Jason Crowe Jr. - Raptors
There is nothing I love more than a PG rocking a C handling rating. Due to the FBB science, the handling letter rating is carried HEAVILY by passing---Thus meaning that a low handling letter grade reflects low passing. In FBB players ran at PG with low passing super inflates their volume shooting. Crowe Jr. is moving with a C handles and I think is a prime candidate to turn into a 30ppg guy if he gets his scoring ratings up.
2. Jared McCain - Pelicans
Carrying on my FBB rant from Crowe Jr, McCain is a more developed version and is pouring in 29ppg after preseason. Outside of scoring McCain grabs a lot of boards for a PG and maintain high level defense. The only issue I have with these type of PG's is if the style translates to winning games. It will ultimately boil down to if he can maintain a high enough FG% to make up for the fact he refuses to pass the ball. Also, the reason for the 2nd place slotting is due to his ball security. Since he has such a high usage rate its partially understandable, but would like to see the turnovers closer to 3 than 4 per game. After this season he will have two more seasons of camping--Will be interesting to see if Slough has too much talent around him for him to break the PPG record.
1. Egor Demin - Jazz
First of all this is an out of spite rating to Slough. On the real though, Egor will be a perirenal 20+ppg scorer. His lower jump shot rating could be a concerning factor as it will heavily weigh down his FT%. When it comes to handles, he is the only PG prospect that carries an A rating. I anticipate him to put up 8.5+apg on less than 3 topg. Jumping sides of the ball, Egors 6'7'' frame translates to a healthy amount of rebounds. His displayed B- defense is a tad misleading as under the hood he has higher than normal post defense and blocking. Last season Egor put up .7 blocks per game and will be interesting to see if he can ever cross the 1 a game threshold.
That will conclude the 2028 PG prospects rankings. Let me know what you agree/disagree with!
