On the surface, this probably looks like a crazy change of heart on the rebuild. I think I can obtain a better rebuild package for Chet than I can for Ant based on the long term contract. For the present term, Chet fills an enormous need since we do not have any bigs that are worth a damn. 

Chet is available if anyone is interested, but it may be more of an offseason trade.

I accept. Been looking for a deal like this all year. It's consistent to what I asked for from the Knicks and Lakers for Wagner and Reaves.

Think this helps the wolves a ton too. Removes the risk of losing their best player and Chet is still super young.

Because I don't trade Chet for an expiring player without other assets involved. It's a huge risk for me and stabilizes the Wolves long term roster

I think Chet and Edwards are pretty level of talent but the risk involved in resigning and possibly overpaying a guy like Edwards makes sense to get something back. If Magic can resign Edwards to a reasonable deal then it's a big win for them.

I'm kind of surprised the market for SGs didn't result in big overpay for Edwards.
