NBN Division Draft
Still in desperate need for cash, I honestly thought I left the last minute reports back in college. I am a master at the art of procrastination, I'd mostly place the blame on some chill professors enabling me, but you can't blame those sweet angels.
Anyhow, the next terrible opinion I'm throwing out here is creating an All-Division team for every division, then let y'all vote and debate. Normally this is an article I'd like to include three other GMs in, but figuring I've at least $3500 from those power ranking articles, I'm about $500 short of keeping my camps and another $8k to get to Leonard/Dadiet camps. Yeesh. So sadly I won't be sharing the wealth. All these team builds will be of my own shit opinion following these simple rules:
i) 10 players are to be drafted for each division team
ii) contracts must work under the $200m cap
iii) Each teams must consist of 1 starter from every team aside from the Central Division who can exclude 1 team, however they must still include a player from said team.
iv) Only a maximum of two players can be selected from each team
v) Teams must have two players from every postion
Kick this off with the Atlantic Division.
Atlantic:
Lineup:
C: Aday Mara (Knicks) [$41,250,000] / Kiener Asprillla (Celtics) [$2,883,291]
PF: Copper Flagg (Wizards) [$37,500,000] / Tyran Stokes (Nets) [$2,981,979]
SF: A.J Dybansta (Nets) [$3,321,514] / Cody Williams (Magic) [$3,310,656]
SG: Kobe Bufkin (76ers) [$23,000,000] / George Washington III (Heat) [$18,000,000]
PG: Tyrese Maxey (76ers) [$52,734,375] / Xiavian Lee (Magic) [$2,396,245]
Salary: $187,378,060
This division is loaded with good talent on rookie deals. It just makes an overall solid roster. Maxey was the obvious choice for point, other high dollar options can't match. The Nets PGs are nowhere close and Collier is laughable. Now I normally don't respect PGs who can't even reach 6apg, but Lee is cheap and has a scoring ability you have to respect. I did sell a bit on the SG position, but that's so I can imagine the Mara-Flagg combo. It's actually a fairly weak division when it comes to SGs, I was honestly ready to throw Sarunas Jasikevicius name out there solely based on letter grade. Bukim is complimentary and George Washington III is there to represent the heat in steals apparantly.
Central:
Lineup:
C: Chet Holmgren (Raptors) [$51,562,500]/ Precious Achiuwa (Pacers) [$965,850]
PF: Koa Peat (Hawks) [$2,816,584]/ Taylor Hendricks (Raptors) [$5,000,000]
SF: Dame Sarr (Bucks) [$37,500,000]/ Josh Leonard (Pistons) [$2,806,614]
SG: D.J Wagner (Hawks) [$37,500,000] /Dylan Harper (Cavaliers) [$3,063,659]
PG: Lamelo Ball (Hornets) [$46,000,000]/Jared McCain (Pelicans) [$3,126,182]
Salary: $190,341,389
How funny would it have been if I tossed Brandon Miller's name on here. This division has a lot of big contracts and little amount of great prospects. A good chunk of those large deals belong to PGs. Had to leave Luka off, he just cost too much. They were other options to match Lamelo Ball, such as Haliburton, Morant, or Shai, but I think the Hornets kind of forced my hand here. I don't like Mark Williams enough to use that much dough, and the only other notable players were point guards on pricey deals, and well Lamelo certainly isn't a slouch, hell seems like everyone offered a max contract this offseason. The other part to it though is that I didn't want to leave a top offensive talent like D.J Wagner off the roster. I mean I could've went for Cam Thomas and leave a Hornets starter off the roster but I like the contract and have thought of him as one of the top offensive talents over the past several seasons. Now the frontcourt is ugly, I probably should've settle for a guy like Okpara and open up a little more cap space to include a guy like Kessler on the Cavs, but Chet is one of those players you kind of have to put on the roster. Then Precious lol, he's here as an requirement. Probably should've gone Cam Thomas to give the Pacers better representation.
Midwest:
Lineup:
C: Jarrett Allen (Mavericks) [$25,000,000] Paul Osaruyi (Rockets) [$2,610,755]
PF: Zion Williamson (Grizzlies) [$46,383,084] / Baba Oladotun (Jazz) [$3,104,934]
SF: Sander Raeist (Mavericks) [$2,158,349]/ Tahj Ariza (Nuggets) [$3,255,084]
SG: Austin Reaves (Jazz) [$41,250,000] / Monte Leyva (Grizzlies) [$39,187,500]
PG: Bronny James (Spurs) [$21,920,192]/Elliot Cadeau (Timberwolves) [$9,000,000]
Salary: $193,869,898
Maybe I didn't search hard enough, but I almost found a way to throw out both Embiid and Zion. Problem is that I wasn't too high on any other SG aside from Reaves and Leyva. Maybe I should've thrown Eddie Jones a bone, but I don't mind shining the light on a guy like Jarrett Allen. A guy who does the dirty work. Nice contract by the way bundy. The interesting choice here though is the point guards, the Spurs have got Bronny James rolling and this is a weakish division at that postion, so I thoight it'd be best to roll out a 21 million dollar player in favor of guys like Egor Demin or Nikola Topic. Which in turn allowed me to add a 2nd member from those teams in young prospects of Baba Oladotun and Sander Raeist. Overall I'm not sure if I could claim this as the best roster here, but I do believe it is my favorite one I put together.
Pacific:
Lineup:
C: Victor Wembanyama (Thunder) [$46,875,000]/ Derek Lively II (Warriors) [$19,408,846]
PF: DaRon Holmes II (Clippers) [$2,825,821]/ Cameron Boozer (Warriors) [$3,517,514]
SF: Josh Giddey (Lakers) [$46,307,111]/ Ron Holland (Clippers) [$28,890,000]
SG:Korie Korbett (Trailblazers) [$2,588,732]/ Dink Pate (Suns) [$590,850]
PG: De'Aaron Fox (Kings) [$45,703,125]/Aaron Rowe Jr. (Suns) [$2,087,064]
Salary: $198,794,063
The Lakers kind of screwed us over here. Would've preferably used Ron Holland at this spot, then maybe either swap Nic Claxton for Lively or simply find a better SG than Dink Pate. Although looking at it now, maybe a Lively swap for Aiden Sherrell of the Kings would work better. I just love seeing block numbers though. The power forward position is a tad meh, in this division. Very center heavy, at least both DaRon Holmes II and Cameron Boozer cam with a cheap contract. The lack of stocks Boozer produces makes one limp to be honest. Withholding that money however, allowed us to splurge on the true League MVP Wembanyama and 2x MVP and reigning champion De'Aaron Fox. Did toy with the idea with running out with Scoot Henderson of the Warriors and Aaron Rowe Jr., but that would be a sin against humanity to leave Fox off the roster on a rather cheap money. Certainly sold a bit on the SG, Korie Korbett is more than serviceableand frankly already near the production level of Shaedon Sharpe and Jalen Green, both of whom were north of $48m.
