1. You went heavily all in with Wemby and Embiid, do you think they will lead you to your first championship this year?
No, I'm pretty confident we will not win the title this year. As many know, most of my trades are out of boredom and my most recent one was for this reason. I also wanted to have my 32 back, but UC was being stingy. I do think that we still have a really good team, but you can't win a title with Immanuel Quickley as your starting PG. I will do my best throughout the season to upgrade that position without mortgaging the future, but who knows how that will go.
2. 7 years into the league now, do you believe Victor Wembanyama is still currently the best Center in the league?
Yes, I'm not sure there really is a debate either. If you're talking about all-around dominance, there's not a better big. Sure Jokic gives you the same offensive numbers, but he can't tough Wemby defensively. I think Embiid is the closest, but he's 35 and his best years are probably behind him. For Wemby to be 25, signed on a long-term deal and just have a +4 TC, he's the best asset in the league.
3. If your team doesnt win the title this year, which team do you think has the best chance of beating you?
I'd like to think the Magic or Wizards will come home with the title this season. Honestly, either winning is my absolute nightmare, but Rog and Dash have built really, really good teams. Think that Dash could have had a title or 2 these last few seasons if he didn't sit on his ass, but no surprise he made no trades. Also think the Kings could repeat and Grizz will be back towards the top. Those 4 teams have the best shot in my opinion.
4. What are your thoughts of this upcoming draft? Do you like whos in it? Do you think it has a chance of being the best draft we see yet?
I'll have to see how the class unfolds once rog does his randomizer, but I like that we're mixing in older players every year as opposed to just the same draft based on the year we're in. I have no picks the next 2 seasons, but excited to see the likes of Shaq, Wilt, World B Free, etc. Will be interesting to see how he builds out these classes with these guys coming in. The draft is my favorite part of any sim league.
5. If you could trade for one player in the league right now who would it be and why?
Probably AJ Dybantsa. Small forwards are the hardest to hit in any league and he has the makings of a star who will be good on boths sides of the ball. Nguyen Tran on Utah is another guy who I'd love to have.
6. 20 days into the season and you are sitting at 10-6, what are your expectations for this year?
I think we get to right around 50 wins. Embiid and Wemby together is fun, but it's not fun trying to find the right DC with the rest of the roster, so I'd expect we don't do amazing these next couple of sims. The West looks pretty weak so I'd guess we're around the 3-5 seed. Last year was my year to win it all, especially with my cap situation and I failed, so had to retool. We'll be competitive, but not a contender.
7. I wasn't part of NBN1 or NBN2 so I wanted to know your thoughts, up to Season 7 how does this league compare or doesnt compare to the other versions up to this point? In terms of activity and all.
It seems pretty similar. We had a great group of GMs for a really long time in NBN1 and 2, but things grew sour, which led to the league shutting down. There isn't anywhere close to as much bs with this new league and I think that's refreshing for everyone, specifically silver.
8. Out of everyone on your roster, who would you like to meet in real life and why?
It's gotta be Victor Wembanyama. He's the most exciting player to enter the league since LeBron and think he has the chance to be one of the best of all time. Seeing how he handles himself and the drive that he has during the games show me that as long as he stays healthy, he will dominate the league for the next 15 seasons.
9. If you had to trade rosters with someone in the league who would it be and why?
That's tough. I would have said the Nets, until they made those PG signings this offseason, so I'll go with Washington. Having Flagg and Coulibaly looks like a ton of fun. I really think that if Dash made a trade for a legit SG these last 2 seasons, he would have won it all.
10. Are you playing any video games currently? if no why not?
Yeah, I've been playing a ton of College Football. I grew up on that game in high school and college so it's nostalgic. I had a dynasty with Marshall that I played for 5 seasons and just started one with UNC that I'm in season 3 on. I haven't played Madden in 5 years or so, so I have nothing to base it on, but I like the gameplay on College Football. Sure, there's some issues, but that's to be expected.
