Late but oh well,
1. After winning 3 straight titles, this season could be a 3rd year in a row without winning one if you don't, what reasons do you think your team hasn't been able to win a championship in the last 2 seasons?
I knew it wouldn't last forever, that's impossible. As original contracts started to expire, all top players start getting maxed and the team became too expensive. I went all in from the beginning and have only made 2 picks since the league started, so I didnt have cheap rookies to take up roles. I've also had to sink my few resources into replacing guys since I've lost Embiid, Ingram, and Bane to FA in just a few years.
2. 7 years into the league now, do you still believe Tyrese Maxey is currently the best PG in the league?
That's tough. I think he is but he's got a ton of competition now. I think the fact that he can lead the league in scoring or assists and keep his turnovers below 2 separates him from the pack. A few can do 2/3, but he might be alone in excelling at all 3.
3. If your team doesn't win the title this year, which team do you think has the best chance of beating you?
I think Magic & Kings are likely the best teams again. The Wizards seem dangerous but haven't shown a willingness to make big moves to win a title. The Grizzlies, Thunder, and Jazz look good too.
4. What are your thoughts of this upcoming draft? Do you like whos in it? Do you think it has a chance of being the best draft we see yet?
I hate the eligible names since I don't have picks for like 4 years. It could end up being incredible but the freshmen have a pretty low probability of declaring and Shaq/ Stockton both ended up pretty average in V2, so who knows. Would be fun if Wilt and Shaq come out the same year.
5. If ever, do you see yourself tanking for some rookies?
It'll happen eventually but I thought it would be fun to dedicate trying to build a winner around Maxey throughout the different stages of his career given how young he was when we started. We'll see if I just abandon it or if he leaves in FA but we're getting to the point where it's getting really tough with minimal assets and crazy salaries.
6. If you could trade for one player in the league right now who would it be and why?
I'd take Wemby. I've been needing a defensive anchor since I lost Embiid and now I need the rebounding too. Doesnt hurt that he's a top scoring threat.
7. 20 days into the season and you are sitting at 10-5, what are your expectations for this year?
I expect to finish in the top half of the East and compete for the title. I'm hoping we can make it back to 60 wins, but 50-55 is probably more realistic this year.
8. I wasn't part of NBN1 or NBN2 so I wanted to know your thoughts, up to Season 7 how does this league compare or doesn't compare to the other versions up to this point? In terms of activity and all.
I wasn't here for V1 but think activity overall might be a little lower than V2. The league dropped some GMs who brought some drama but also provided a lot in terms of trades and articles. Some veteran GMs were also more active in the last version compared to this one. I think V3 has had more healthy activity and discussion and still plenty of activity, so it's been good overall.
9. If Tyrese Maxey ends up not resigning and leaving to another team like Embiid did, do you think your next step would be to rebuild?
Well, I traded all my picks so probably not. I guess I'll have to find a PG somewhere and ride the next 3 seasons out if I can't trade back for my picks.
10. Out of everyone on your roster, who would you like to meet in real life and why?
Avery Johnson I guess. He was on the title Spurs teams which would be cool to hear about and he coached the Mavs when the Heat won their first title, so that would be cool to hear stories about too. Maxey seems like a good guy but he's significantly younger than me and that seems weird lol
11. If you had to trade rosters with someone in the league who would it be and why?
Dash so the Wizards could finally win a title
12. Are you playing any video games currently? if no why not?
I'm playing college football 25. The Gators have to win football games somehow, figured I'd do it for them
