Very Very Late but oh well,
1. I'm not really worried about your interim team, but do you think you will ever make any serious movements with your Hornets?
I guess that depends on what you consider a serious movement. If you call that trading multiple (4-5) picks for someone, I don’t see myself doing that. I’m too risk averse. I prefer incremental improvements. I’ve been adding some really good pieces to the team, I just haven’t been able to find the right combination of players. I wonder if we would’ve been more competitive with Randle still here, but he retired. I think that hurt our depth this season. I liked Ware coming off the bench.
2. What are your thoughts of this upcoming draft? Do you like whos in it? Do you think it has a chance of being the best draft we see yet?
It looks incredible. It looks like there are probably 6 guys who could’ve been the 1st overall pick in another draft. Obviously, everyone would love to pick one of the top bigs available, but I loved Kendall Gill when he played. I also really liked Ced Ceballos, as well. Both of them look interesting. I cannot say that I was a big fan of Latrell Spreewell,(I’m a Heat fan) but he’s another one of those guys who could’ve been first in a different draft. I cannot let the opportunity to give a shout out to the great Sam Cassell, a great guy who picked the right university to attend. lol
3. Have you thought about moving Lonzo Ball at all? Or been close to moving him?
I honestly really haven’t considered moving Lamelo. Early on, there were some teams willing to trade 3 or 4 picks for him, but he was already so good. I didn’t think it would make me any better to make that trade. Lately, I don’t think I’ve had as many people reach out about him and I’m not sure that I would move him. Point guards are so important in FBB. In version 1, I had Dennis Smith who was ridiculous. I also actually drafted Lonzo Ball, so I do have an affinity for the family lol. In version 2, Killian Hayes was absolutely ridiculous. Those types of players can instantly give your team a chance.
4. If you could trade for one player in the league right now who would it be and why?
I desperately need a shot blocker. I have for a few years. The easy answer would be Wemby or Embiid. A guy like Claxton would be amazing also, but the extra scoring would be great. The guy that I really wanted to trade for was Myles Turner. I think he could’ve been the perfect backup or potentially a starting power forward. He could’ve stretched the defense and given me that shot blocking compliment to Mark Williams. I would’ve loved to add Porzingis also this season, but I couldn’t figure out the salary situation.
5. 20 days into the season and you are sitting at 8-7, what are your expectations for this year?
I really liked the team coming into the season. We played really well at the end of the year after an absolutely disastrous start. I added some good defenders which we really needed and was able to keep all of my main pieces aside from Randle’s retirement. The only issue is that the East is loaded and only continued to improve around us.
6. I wasn't part of NBN1 or NBN2 so I wanted to know your thoughts, up to Season 7 how does this league compare or doesnt compare to the other versions up to this point? In terms of activity and all.
I’ve loved this league from the moment I joined now almost 9 years ago. I think the good thing is that we have had a good core of GMs that have been here since V1 that have remained active through the 3 versions. We had guys like Jcog72, buckeyeballa and frosty that always kept us entertained whether it was through trades or laughs. V2 was great for a while but then it seemed like every thread turned into a 20 page argument, so it’s good that aspect of the league went away this version. I think V3, we still have a great core of GMs. The only thing is that I wish we could get a full league of GMs and maybe a guy like John will come back or maybe even pjclippers. I’m sure one of those guys may come back at some point.
7. Out of everyone on your roster, who would you like to meet in real life and why?
Obviously, Lamelo would be the easy answer, but I think a guy like Earl Boykins would be fascinating. I still play basketball on the weekends. Obviously, I have no pro aspirations, but I would love to speak to a guy who defied all odds as a below average height man and he somehow carved out a 13 year career. I’m average height and likely nowhere near as fast as Boykins was, but I’m sure he would have pointers on things that he would do to be able to compete at that level.
8. If you had to trade rosters with someone in the league who would it be and why?
Right now, I’d probably want the Nets roster. They have young prospects everywhere and Embiid should still be good for a few years. They have three second year bigs. They have Small Forward figured out with Dybantsa. Bronny is a great defender and they have some young point guard prospects as well. They also still have cap space, so they are set up to be able to add to the roster before reaching the hard cap.
9. Who do you think will win West and East and who do you think will win the title this year?
I think I’ll take the Grizzlies in the West. They have been able to stay consistent even without Brunson. Once he returns, that will be a very difficult out for anyone. In the East, it is tough because it is a gauntlet. It seems like every team is currently hot. I think depending on the matchups, I could see your Knicks making a run. You have enough bigs to beat anyone. The defense has been great all season and you have plenty of scoring also. Giddey as the sixth man is ridiculous. I think I’ll go with the Grizzlies to win it all just because of how well they have played without Brunson. The fact that they can still win games despite not being 100% for the majority of the season is very impressive.
10. Are you playing any video games currently? if no why not?
I was playing a ton of CFB25 until the last few weeks. Unfortunately, I take a lot of work home and have been doing so for the last few years, so I get little stints when I have some free time and then I get slammed with things to do.
Before CFB25, I was playing some MLB the Show and I also restarted Red Dead Redemption 2. I’ve tried to finish it a few times, but work always takes over lol. I also want to go back and finish Far Cry 5 and then play Far Cry 6. At some point, I also want to play the Harry Potter game, which I had wanted to play when it came out, but never got around to it either lol.
