Lets take a peak at some of the recent draft selections and grades ill assign to them
1. Thunder - PG Penny Hardaway
Grade : A+
I mean it was done by luck but Slough got the number one pick and then traded it to OKC. Melo gets his man for the future and Penny was hands down the best player in this class.
2. Heat - C Dino Meneghin**
Grade : B
Look i get it, its nice to pair another foreigner with the other two coming over but Miami needs players now. They're not gunna have the 3 of these players for 2 more seasons. I also think he could have traded down gained assets and maybe got him around 4-5 range. Next year they have no rookies opn their team so must likely another top 5 pick and when 2 years come theyre gunna need a ton of cash to camp all these guys.
3. Warriors - PF Dennis Rodman
Grade : B+
I love his game, Rodman with a great B+ B+ start is awesome but the warriors are a mess. I think they would have benefited from someone like Gathers or Wallace more but i dont hate the pick at all. Maybe a bit early.
4. Spurs - PF Hank Gathers
Grade : B
Another solid selection but perhaps by the wrong team. The spurs already have Anicet Lavodrama coming over at center this year who looks great and have 2 young PFs on massive contracts. I get he can move them but if im the league im making the spurs eat that Tiller contract.
5. Pacers - PG World B Free
Grade : A
This was a homerun pick for the pacers who have a great young squad. I know he wasn't here to make the pick but it seems he was leaning World anyway. I had my dislikes about Free but at 5 he fell to the perfect team IMO.
6. Rockets - SF Jamal Mashburn
Grade : B+
Another solid player falls to a team that needs a couple positions. I may have helped rog here with this pick but don't think he could have gone wrong with any of the 3 SFs available. Rockets look nice with two great young bigs and now add a solid SF. Lets see if he grabs some Free agents and competes in Houston.
7. Wolves - PF Rasheed Wallace
Grade : A+
I was shocked that Sheed fell this far. I tried hard trading up to get him to match with Mutumbo but it didn't work out. Wolves need a lot but with Belov looking solid at C, Rasheed is going to be a nice addition.
8. Nuggets - SG Nikos Galis**
Grade : B+
I think Nikos is going to be a great player like he was in NBN2. His defense needs work but his scoring seems to be already solid and at 19 with some years overseas hopefully he can turn into a beast for Denver.
9. Pelicans - C Sam Bowie
Grade : A
Great pick for the Pelicans, Im curious to see him work his magic next to DJ Burns
10. Lakers - SF Toni Kukoc
Grade : A/A+ according to 2 GMs
I wont grade my own pick so maybe some people in the comments can give me a grade! I thought he was a nice fit next to Mutumbo with having young guys like SG Page and SF Orr already on the roster.
