1. You just joined the league and look to be trying to figure out everything before making any moves really, what are your thoughts of the league so far with what you know?
- It’s been a fun start for sure. We’ve had chats with several other teams, sort of trying to get a feel for the market. That said, I know being the new guy in town can attract some vultures that are looking to take you out back on deals, so we’re taking a cautious approach. We’re looking to gather a solid sample size of what we have in house before we go shopping and swapping.
2. Coming into the league in 2032 and most of the players you might not be familiar with but we are going retro now, how do you feel about that and who are looking forward to seeing in the draft soon?
- Retro is always a cool path to take for name recognition and storylines. That said, we know that names are just names and that FBB has no cares about how these guys have panned out in a past life. I grew up in the late 90s/early 00s era of basketball so I’ll definitely be looking forward to guys like Allen Iverson, Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter.
3. Your team is currently 8-12, what do you think the teams expectations are? is 8-12 right where they should be or better or worse?
- We’ve ripped off 3 straight since then, bringing us to 11-12. That said it seems like we’re streaky and seem to always trend towards .500 thus far. We need to be a more efficient offensive team but our backcourt has been superb, led by Jalen Green who is 2nd in the league in points per game.
4. Who do you think needs to take the extra step in order for your team to play better?
- Well, the obvious spot to point fingers is at our two 22 year old centers. Shawn and Manute absolutely need to become more efficient at the rim. We don’t need to rely on them for scoring but we can’t have two guys that are over seven and a half feet tall shooting 40% from the field. This will be a huge part of their development moving forward. More of the appropriate finger pointing should be aimed at the efficiency of Tajh Ariza though. With the salary he’s making and the reliance on him to be a scoring wing for this team, he needs to refine his shot selection and do a better job when going to the hoop.
5. Who do you think are your best players and who do you think you will be trying to move before the season is over?
- We’re really happy with our backcourt tandem at the moment. Jalen is one of the elite scorers in this league and Earl can do a bit of everything despite his stature. Jason Richardson looks promising off the bench which could lead to Ariza hitting the block. We also must say that we are very excited to have Nikos Galis in the organization and expect him to have a phenomenal career in Denver.
6. My New York Knicks are currently 9-7, do you think we should be better or is my PG situation too difficult to overcome?
- We’ll update that to 10-11 now but yeah, there’s seems to be some holes. Having that reliable point guard right now is definitely not helping. I also think you’re a year or two away from developing that true #1 star type. Knicks seem to be in a similar tier as my Nuggets but may be in a deeper conference which could keep you out of the playoffs.
7. My LA Lakers in real life started the season 3-0 and are now 3-2, do you think Lakeshow are back or were the first 3 games a fluke?
- 1st round exit team most likely. Organization showed its cards by giving into the Bronny circus/charity. Not a serious organization at the moment.
8. Who do you think currently has the best chance to win the championship this year and why? (NBN and NBA)
- I think in the NBN, it’s gonna be between 2 western juggernauts in the Grizzlies and Jazz. The Grizzlies rebounding accompanied by an elite scorer and elite point guard are going to make them very dangerous. We’ll see if it’s enough to overpower the star power of Wemby and Luka with Egor running point. In the NBA, it’ll probably be the Celtics. The East has gotten better on paper but they still seem to be head and shoulders above the pack. So deep and well coached, sadly they’ll be in a great position to repeat.
9. Which team do you think will be a force in the league in the next 2-3 years that isn't a force already? (NBN and NBA)
- I still have quite a bit of homework to do on other teams but I’d hope it’s us. If Galis is the real deal, it could catapult us to the next level. His development the next two seasons overseas will be huge. If we can get our bigs up to snuff and be ready to roll Galis in on his rookie deal, we can hopefully spend money wisely around him and be a legitimate contender.
10. Rog just released the draft but hasn't done the declarations yet, who do you hope declares for the draft this year?
- That’s a tough question when looking at it from our standpoint. It doesn’t appear that we’ll have a very high pick unless we win the lottery. We’re also spread out pretty well from a positional talent standpoint right now that we can comfortably take best player available. Walton should be a force in the league for a long time but we may be benefited mostly by a deeper wing class.
11. Boston Celtics (naterade) won GMOTY last season, I know you probably can't answer this but from what you see, who do you think is in the early running this season?
- Well I do hate this interview on such a lackluster note, but I really am not equipped to provide anything useful here. I’d have to find some old indexes or do some deep research to even gather a single thought on the topic but I appreciate the time you’ve taken to interview me. Looking forward to a successful NBN career.
