Forgot to post this one cuz it was sent late, oh well.
1. With Season 9 officially beginning, what are your expectations after going 3-5?
It's a bit late, but I felt I would be planning for a top 4 seed based on the moves I made even though I traded the #1 pick, I think I net for the next few years based on what I got and landed basically my entire future front court that I needed more than Penny essentially. Update with McCain out makes it definitely difficult, so I need to hang around and try to win the second seed now.
2. You made some moves this offseason relatively trading Penny for Bowie and DJ Burns, could you explain that move? Are you trying to win or lose?
Mccain and Penny coulda been a hot 1-2
I would say I added Googs as well, which adds to my long-term strategy and I do like Avery Johnson with his price as a more pass first PG, and comfortable with McCain long term as a SG, so I think it will work out fine, especially how I rated Burns and Bowie in the front court. Definitely looking to win and keep it going.
3. Are there any additional moves you are trying to make for this season?
I'm always looking to upgrade, I did add a few small moves with Murphy and just recently Suggs with McCain out. I am always looking to upgrade though depending on the deal now and long term.
4. Who do you think needs to take the extra step in order for your team to play better?
I would say the bench really and if Cody can play up with McCain out. I also think that Avery can take the next step being a more efficient PG, pass first, and help us score more from the outside.
5. What do you believe Sam Bowie's and Tom Gugliotta's ceiling can be?
I think Sam Bowie is actually going to be the best big man in the draft to be honest as it is the only reason I traded #1 overall trying to land Bowie and Googs which worked out with how deep the draft was. I always liked Bowie and really was between Gathers and him, but really wanted Bowie all along. I am also a huge fan of players that play a lot of positions, especially guys like Googs that can backup every spot, is a huge advantage long term based on the notes. I think it helps complete my team long term for runs.
6. Do you think you will ever look to move Cody Williams or Jared McCain?
It really depends on the deal no player is ever untouchable in my eyes, but it all comes down to the deal if it makes sense for me. I think McCain would be harder, but I also think Cody is a top 3 SF in a position I have always thought is hard to fill across the league, especially with what he does.
7. My New York Knicks are currently 6-1, do you think we might actually be good or is it a fluke?
I think was a solid start, but think you meant to retool or rebuild all along, so a bit of a fluke. You are always a wildcard though with that trade disease, so never know with you, haha.
8. My LA Lakers in real life started the season 3-0 and are now 3-2, do you think Lakeshow are back or were the first 3 games a fluke?
Not a fan of the Lakers and still and old school Sonics fan, so don't watch a lot actually. I think you guys will be fine, since the NBA is different then when I grew up watching in the early 90's. Should be interesting with the team and Bronny distraction all year as I actually don't think he is very good, just got his dad.
9. Who do you think currently has the best chance to win the championship this year and why? (NBN and NBA)
I would say, for NBN, Sixers, Pelicans, maybe Celtics in the East, then Grizz, Kings in the West. As far as the NBA, probably hard for anyone to beat the Celtics at the moment would be my guess.
10. Which team do you think will be a force in the league in the next 2-3 years that isn't a force already? (NBN and NBA)
Pelicans, Magic, Sixers won't go away, Kings won't go away, like the Grizz still and like what the Suns are doing. As for the NBA, I guess Celtics, Kings, Suns, again I don't watch much of real NBA, now if you ask me College bball questions, got you all day haha.
11. With us fully into retro now, who is your favorite retro player yet to enter the league and why?
Definitely John Stockton has always been one of my top favorite players of all me, I do like Rodman and sampson as well, not really ratings wise as Rodman hard to make. Coming up I love me some AI, Payton, Mighty Mouse, Detlef, Ray Allen, Also forgot to add Mutumbo above, love the finger wag.
12. Boston Celtics (naterade) won GMOTY last season, who do you think is in the early running this season?
It's hard to tell on GMOTY, I feel like part is a popularity contest, so who knows, also I think some votes linger based on playoffs to start as well, but since you can't vote for yourself, I always like the retools that Kings do, Grizz does, etc.
