The 28th nominee of the NBN Hall of Fame, Tim Duncan, is the surest lock of the group. Duncan was a superstar and it will be a shock if he is denied enshrinement. Is there any flaw in his game big enough to keep him from his destiny? Lets take a look at the numbers.

Arguments For Induction
- Okay, deep breath... Duncan was named to 10 All-Star games, winning one All-Star MVP, five All-League First teams, two All-League second teams, one All-League third team. Duncan also was named to four All-Defensive first teams, three All-Defensive second teams, and won a defensive player of the year. Finally, at least for now, Duncan won a record four MVPs in his career. I do wonder if CP3 breaks this record, but for now he only has one. Duncan is one of the most decorated players in league history. No gripes with this players awards at all.
- Like Camby, Duncan is one of, if not the, great rebounders of all time. He averaged an insane 14.7 rebounds a game and is the record holder for most rebounds in a career. Sadly Duncan only played 12 seasons so someone will eventually break that. But for now lets just marvel at the fact that Duncan probably is the greatest rebounder in league history, and that may be a title you can never take away from him.
- Duncan is in many ways like Camby, his shot blocking and defensive prowess continue that. He averaged 4.5 stocks a game, including 3.4 blocks a contest. He was named to seven different defensive teams and won a defensive player of the year. Not only that but he carried an A+ defensive rating for much of his career. You did not want to face this guy in the paint or try to throw a pass into a guy being defended by him, it was not a winning proposition. He finished third all time in blocks for his career.
- And that is where the comparison to Camby ends. Duncan was an absolute monster offensively, capable of scoring from anywhere. He averaged 25 points a contest and shooting 46% from the field, wihch is damn efficient for a scoring big in FBB. He also was a great free throw shooter shooting 79% from the line. He also could shoot from deep just adding to his arsenal he could also shoot from deep, not in bulk but occasionally. He finished his career 7th in points. Three top 10 stats, not much can top that.
- Duncan was also an absolutely special passer for a big as well, dishing out 3 assists a game.
- Should be mentioned as well that Duncan was absolutely fantastic at being on the court. Only missed more than 10 games in a season once and that was only 14 games. He also played 38 minutes a game for his career, meaning he was rarely in foul trouble and played all but 10 minutes a game, which is a tough task for bigs in FBB.
- The only argument I see here is whether or not hes the great big in league history, which seems to be a pretty decent question. He could do absolutely everything. You can't ask for anything else than what Duncan gave you night in and night out. Seriously who is better than him? Amar'e? Shaq? Bosh? Who? I think at this point there is no other answer than Duncan.
Arguments Against Induction
- Wasn't given an award every season. Seriously? Can't be that good, gosh.
- Uhhh.... uhhh... averaged 2.1 turnovers, WHO DOES THAT.
- Seriously, never won a title. Was on a few great franchise too, was he the problem? Bet he was, that smug bastard.
Vote carefully, and remember to throw out arguments regardless of which side you're on. This should be a discussion that eventually gets the league to the proper decision on him. Your vote can also be retracted after it's been cast if you feel like switching to the other side based on the arguments that have been made. To be inducted, a player needs 70% and to be considered in a later class they need 50%. Vote carefully!
***BONUS - Don't forget that everyone who votes gets $25 and the person that makes the best argument or contributes to the discussion the best will be awarded an extra $25***
