The 37th nominee of the NBN Hall of Fame is Shawn Marion, one of the best two way players in NBN History. He seems like a pretty solid lock to get in, but was he good enough offensively to be known as a legend.

Arguments For Induction
- Played in five All-Star games, was named to four All-League third teams, one All-League second team, and two All-League First Teams. He was also named to three All-Defensive Second teams and an All-Defensive first team. For half of his years in the league, Marion was a top 3 player at his position despite not being a truly prolific scorer or passer, shows how good he was everywhere else.
- One of the best defensive players in league history. Its tough to consistently get all-defensive nominations in FBB at small forward, a lot of the time it goes to someone different most years. Marion had four in his career and probably deserves more. He averaged 2.3 stocks a game for his career and in his prime did closer to 3 a game. He carried at least an A defensive rating for the majority of his career. Fantastic defender.
- Marion was one of the best rebounding small forwards of all time, seriously almost no one is better. He averaged 8.9 for his career but was consistently over 9.5 for his prime. In fact he was so good at rebounding, a small forward is 21st in rebounds. Fantastic.
- While not a superstar offensivley, Marion was surprisingly effective at putting the ball in the hoop. He only averaged 18.9 for his career, but was always over 22-23 points a game for his prime. Solid volume number. Not just volume either he was effective at scoring too. He had a 44.7/86.9/39.3 slash line but that was brought down towards the end, his prime line was closer to 46/89/40.
- While not a crazy good passer, Marion did well there, averaging close to 3 a game in his prime.
- Also stupid proficient with the ball only averaging 1.3 turnovers a game for his career. You had a guy who scored, rebounded, passed decently, shot well, was an elite defender, all while not being turnover prone. You seriously can't beat that. The guy was a stud, while not a "take over the game and win it on my own" stud, he was a guy you didn't want to face in the playoffs because he would flat out take over the game in all facets. Absolutely a hall of famer.
Arguments Against Induction
- There isn't much here, one of them is a slight lack of awards. Its hard to argue he was a star, but only 7 of his 15 seasons he was a top 3 player? Tough to say he was a true legend.
- Really wasn't an amazing scorer, I mean he could score but wasn't elite in it in any real way. I just don't know if one facet of his game isn't elite, that he can be a Hall of Famer.
- The biggest issue is the fact that he never won a title. He played on some good teams too, did he cause his teams to not advance? Like 2004 when the Pacers won 60 games and lost in the first round, do legends do that?
- Hung around WAY too long collecting pay checks that he really didn't deserve. I mean great player, but he had three years, four really, at a true shell of his self. I mean and in the end, was Marion truly a "I do not want to want to face this guy in the playoffs because he'll destroy me" or a "man this guy is annoying" type of way? You pick.
Vote carefully, and remember to throw out arguments regardless of which side you're on. This should be a discussion that eventually gets the league to the proper decision on him. Your vote can also be retracted after it's been cast if you feel like switching to the other side based on the arguments that have been made. To be inducted, a player needs 70% and to be considered in a later class they need 50%. Vote carefully!
***BONUS - Don't forget that everyone who votes gets $25 and the person that makes the best argument or contributes to the discussion the best will be awarded an extra $25***
