The 42nd nominee of the NBN Hal of Fame is Andre Miller. Miller compares to Jason Kidd in a lot of ways, will he have the similar(early) fate as Jason Kidd or will his abilities and accolades propel him to the Hall of Fame? Lets take a look.

Reasons For Induction
- Played in two All-Star games, was named to an All-League Third Team and All-Defensive Team throughout his career.
- To start, Andre Miller actually compares very favorably to fellow nominee Jason Kidd, whether its his scoring, rebounding ability, and lack of turnovers, on top of his better overall career stats and actually having some awards, Andre Miller is a complete step up from Kidd.
- Miller more than anything was a complete and total triple double threat, finishing his career with 34 of them. He was just a fantastic rebounder for his position, scrappy and strong in the post for some reasons Miller just excelled at rebounding. He averaged 5.3 for his career, and was over 6 his entire peak.
- While never a truly elite passer, Miller was solid at getting his teammates involved in the offense. For eleven(!!) straight years you could count on Andre Miller to give you 8 assists, and all but two of those seasons had he 8.5 or more. Thats some incredible consistency, even if its not a truly elite number.
- And just to show you how great he was at what he was inserted into his team to do, Miller possesses a 4.87 assist to turnover ratio, again not truly legendary but a stupid good number. He took care of the ball really well in the early stages of the league where that was a premium. That needs to count for something.
- Solid to good defender who was capable of getting 2 steals a game in his eleven year prime. Thats a good number.
- Overall with Miller, he was never truly amazing, but he was an incredible steady force that gave you 17 points, 8.5 assists, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, didn't turn it over at all, all over a 11 year stretch. Compared to Kidd, who had an incredibly solid peak but never sustained amazingness, Miller falls into the other camp where while never elite, except one season, was really good for a crazy long period of time. To me, I'll take the steady force any day.
Arguments Against Induction
- Not enough awards, sure more than Kidd but Kidd has been a truly automatic no at this point.
- Are we going to talk about how the Cavaliers are one of the worst franchises in the history of the league, if not the worst, and have only made the playoffs twice in league history and Miller was apart of that franchise for 8 seasons, 8 of his 11 year prime was on a team that made the playoffs twice, once at 39-43. Thats not a good look on Miller's resume.
- Not a good scorer. Had two seasons over 20 points a game and by the most part was a 13 to 16 point scorer who didn't shoot all that well, and flat out could not shoot three pointers. You could leave him on the perimeter and he couldn't hurt you. That is a huge, huge issue.
- I'm just trying to think of a way where you look at Andre Miller and say "this is a Hall of Famer". Not only was he only one year a top three point guard in the league, I don't know if he was ever, other than that year, a top 7 point guard. He has zero 'wow' stats, no legendary moments. Heck he was FOUR player of the week awards and no player of the month awards. He won player of the game in 236 games, meaning he wasn't the best player on the floor in 75% of the games he played. That sure doesn't sound like a Hall of Famer to me, does it to you?
Vote carefully, and remember to throw out arguments regardless of which side you're on. This should be a discussion that eventually gets the league to the proper decision on him. Your vote can also be retracted after it's been cast if you feel like switching to the other side based on the arguments that have been made. To be inducted, a player needs 70% and to be considered in a later class they need 50%. Vote carefully!
***BONUS - Don't forget that everyone who votes gets $25 and the person that makes the best argument or contributes to the discussion the best will be awarded an extra $25***
