The 122nd nominee for the NBN Hall of Fame and only from the 2031 class, Dani Diez, came into the league with decent ratings but not a lot of upside. He started slow and burst onto the scenes in his 5th season as a legit 20 points per game scorer. Was his time enough to be inducted or too little too late?

Arguments For Induction
- Despite the late start to his prime, Diez was able to rack up an All-League Second Team and an All-League Third team proving he was top 3 at his position at least three times in his career.
- Most of all Diez was an absolutely fantastic and efficient scorer. He averaged nearly 22 points per game on his career and had four seasons over 26.5 per game, which is an elite level for a small forward. He was crazy a crazy good scorer. He had 9 seasons from his 5th season through his last where he was over 20 per game.
- While not the best defender, he was adequate. He actually carried an A defensive rating late in his career while carying an A- rating most of his career. Solid defender who averaged nearly 2 stocks a game as well, including over 1.5 steals a game most years.
- Overall, he had nine solid years of 20 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 1.5 steals on some of the best percentages you've ever seen. I didn't mention it above but the dude shot 48.7% from the field, nearly 90% from the line, and over 45% from three. He had seasons where he did 50/90/45, just insane. So he shot the ball incredibly, had good volume, rebounded at an okay rate, was a solid defender, and didn't turn it over. What do you expect more from your small forward?
Arguments Against Induction
- He only has two awards to his names, literally just two total awards in his 13 seasons. He doesn't have any rookie awards or defensive awards or anything, just two All-League teams. You can't be a Hall of Famer with those awards.
- While he was a good scorer, if you are going to rest on the strength of your scoring, being a good scorer isn't enough. He needed more than 3 seasons over 25 points per game. The 9 seasons over 20 points per game is a nice look but that should be a supplement to an elite scoring case, rather than what it rests on.
- He also can't depend on defense to get him in. With zero awards in the defensive part of his game and without elite steal numbers you can't ask someone to vote on him with any strength resting on his defense either. He was a solid defender and that was about it.
- Overall he has very little case. He was an elite shooter, good scorer, solid defender, decent rebounder but other than his shooting he doesn't have ANYTHING to rest his case on and shooting is simply not enough to depend on for a Hall of Fame case. He was a great player to build a team with, but not someone you built around. The Hall of Famers are the guys you completely and totally base your roster decisions on, Diez was not that.
Vote carefully, and remember to throw out arguments regardless of which side you're on. This should be a discussion that eventually gets the league to the proper decision on him. Your vote can also be retracted after it's been cast if you feel like switching to the other side based on the arguments that have been made. To be inducted, a player needs 70% and to be considered in a later class they need 50%. Vote carefully.
***BONUS - Don't forget that everyone who votes gets $25 and the person that makes the best argument or contributes to the discussion the best will be awarded an extra $25***
