Eastern Conference:
#1 Pacers vs #8 Hornets -
Slough: I actually thought the Raptors would have made the 8th seed and he played the Pacers quite well this regular season, but it is the Hornets who everyone thought after trading Rozier would easily relenquished his run into the playoffs based on a few games back, but he actually played very well and landed the 8th spot. I think even if the Pacers have slowed a bit to end the season, that they are going to win the series.
Haliburton and Kawhi I believe are too much for their team, and think the Pacers move on pretty easy
Prediction: Pacers 4-1
Yourkers: Yeah little sad I fell short because I would have probably taken the Pacers to the brink and highly believe we could have beat them. But it ends up being the Hornets who went on a nice winning streak and jumped in front. When you look at the matchup it will be Haliburton vs Melo which is a fun matchup for sure but after that the Pacers are just better. Kawhi should control the series and be the mvp but feel the Hornets steal a game to start and will make it a series but just fall short.
Prediction: Pacers 4-2
Prediction: Pacers 4-2
#2 Heat vs #7 Nets -
Slough: The Nets played pretty well with their guard formation and how they were running it for a big portion of the season, but something went afoot, so they slowly dropped down to the #7 seed in the rankings to end the season. Its going to be very interesting how this series goes as the Heat start with a game or two on their sharp shooting SG in Herro, but I don't think it will matter.
This series should come down to how the Nets plethora of guards play against the high level play of the Heat in the same sentiment. I give the edge to the Heat, but this could be very much an upset in the making on how decent the Nets front court is matching up.
Prediction: Heat 4-3 in a tight series
Yourkers: Heat built a team that should have been the best team in the league but started off slow. They figured it out just like how the real life Clippers figured it out after acquiring Harden. The Nets built a little differently but put a team that shouldn't be the 7th seed in the East. To me this the best matchup in the East. It will be a hard fought physical battle with both well rounded teams. The key matchup might be Herro vs Thomas. Which one will be the guy who stands out and helps their team to victory. Or can the Nets get enough offense out of Claxton/Zubac to offset the duo of Davis/Bam. A fun series for sure that should be in the 2nd round and not the 1st.
Prediction: 4-3 Heat
Prediction: 4-3 Heat
#3 Pelicans vs #6 Cavs -
Slough: Lets be honest I would be an idiot to select against myself, but the Cavs are a very good team. I think I am one of the hottest teams going into the playoffs, but the playoffs in FBB for how many years I have played are different as well. I think one of the biggest factors that helps me besides my depth and being at home is the fact their best player in Mitchell starts out for the next 10 days. When you have a 27ppg player out and one of the best players this season scoring in the league, its a definite loss to overcome. Cavs do have a decent front court, but with my depth I think would have still won even with Mitchell.
If the Cavs had more depth it would be interesting, but I don't think they have enough to match up, but even if I hate to beat teams when they are without their best, in FBB there isn't a single GM that would feel sorry for the circumstance even if it was flipped.
Prediction: Pelicans 4-1
Yourkers: So I already made my playoff predictions and know how that goes but let's have a breakdown. Cavs have a really nice team but Barrett wasn't the type of guy they expected him to be. Then after there starting 5 they seems to lack much depth while the Pelicans have seem to be on a roll led by Brunson/Zion and have depth all the way around. The cavs will need to have Mitchell play like he is MJ for them to have a chance I feel. He needs to be spectacular and needs to just take over as he the true mismatch it seems for the cavs. Everything else seems like it leads into the Pelicans favor. But I can't see him doing that the whole series. Just feel the Pelicans and their offense will be too much to handle for the cavs.
Prediction: 4-1 Pelicans
Prediction: 4-1 Pelicans
#4 Sixers vs #5 Magic -
Slough: This is the most interesting East matchup for the first round in my opinion. This could go either way and Sixers finished hot, while I thought the Magic would have kept the home court, but got trumped right near the end. This series is really a coin flip to me.
I think that Maxey and Shai are about a coin flip still. I honestly think the versatility that the Sixers have could be the difference. The front courts are close on the deals both made, but lets be honest you have Lebron Fing James as a crazy super sub I think pulls out the win for the Sixers to move on, however I do think it will be close.
Predicition: Sixers 4-3
Yourkers: This is really a fun matchup. This can go either way for sure as the magic have such a well balanced starting 5 as does the 76ers. But the xfactor could be Lebron being the super sub. Didn't realize that till I seen the awards. Such a smart idea to use his well rounded game and put him in places where he can exploit mismatches. I just don't know if the Magic will be able to figure that one out and still feel they are young and need another year of growth while the 76ers have all the experience on their side. Will def be watching the embiid and Capella matchup to see if they can slow embiid down in a series. Also gotta love SGA vs Maxey. Two of the best young PGs in the league. Just gotta go with the hot team and experience though.
Prediction: 4-2 Sixers
Prediction: 4-2 Sixers
