Share had one season where he shot over 45%. Vern had nine. You can't have it both ways here! You're arguing percentages, and then you say Share was better. If you like just stocks, Share's your guy. If you like legitimate post defense and stocks, Vern>>>> Ya Share knew his role better and didn't try to be something he's not. Share also never won anything and was passed around because he wasn't nearly as talented as Vern. Vern had 100 inside scoring, was athletic, and scored at a very good clip for my team when I had him. Other teams didn't know how to utilize him as well. Looking at it, he was well over 45% as a starter on the Pacers.

Unfortunately, Vern Mikkelsen has been denied entry into the NBN Hall of Fame at this time and will be placed on the "re-vote" list.
I guess we really don't vote bigs into the Hall of Fame here anymore!

There's a reason Share never won. I could've picked him up about six times over his career, but I didn't need him considering his underlying attributes were not great and he was a career .433/.736 shooter. I like bigs who can shoot free throws

Chuck Share was better nearly every season and has 0 yes hue. I was about to say this. Vern's better to me but it's honestly close. If Share gets 0 votes Vern certainly shouldn't be getting in. The gap between them wasn't that big

The gap between them wasn't that big Vern was one of the best pure defensive bigs we've seen in the NBN in a long time. Stocks don't equate to defensive ability. I've had bigs with 100 blocking and 40 post defense that get their shit pushed in. Vern had 100 post defense, high blocking/stealing attributes, scored at a much higher clip and better percentages than Share, and is up there on every relevant leaderboard ranking.

It's not important at all compared to shot blocking. Most bigs have at least 70 here so not like we're talking bad post d here either.

The difference between 70 with average athletics like 98% of bigs and 100 with good athletics and high stock ability is so huge.

With that shooting percentage he'd never make it - only scoring points on shit teams because of volume

Regardless Vern is absolutely not one of the best pure defensive bigs. He wouldn't be a top 5 defensive big today and he probably wasn't back then either. This dude is Clyde Lovelette/Chuck Share level like I said before, maybe a little better. I thought Fulks was borderline and Fulks was for sure better than Vern in his prime. I'm not above putting bigs in the hall but guys like Vern/Clyde/Share are lowering the bar significantly. Fucking George Milan didn't get in and he was better. Milan/KAT/Tostig/Neon/Embiid etc were the generational big men that should get in. Not this level of player. I mean I could name at least 10 bigs that were as good or better than Vern. It's a no for me dawg

I get the feeling some of you guys voted no for the sake of being petty. There have been much worse bigs to get voted in than Vern. I can't wait for the re-vote when Vern inevitably gets voted in like he deserves to be.
