well this is disappointing, best part of the league is cashed for me I’m with you. Drafting has always been my favorite part, but I’ve been in leagues with similar rules and it always is fun. Just will be an adjustment.

Just will be an adjustment. Unfortunately, the idea of a hidden gem in the draft no longer exists because everyone knows who has what potential range already. In the past, guys like Byron Scott and Andrew Gaze were super highly touted but busted because they were not very good prospects with not very good potential. You can’t draft a guy with B potential in the lottery with this system, imo. Too much risk involved.

Granted, I prefer to draft high potential with worse ratings over low potential with good ratings, but it doesn't always pan out and I think that's silver's hope with this system that there will be balance. But again, I agree with you and don't love the system. On the flip side, providing scouts has to be beyond annoying. I know I'm one of the guys silver hates come draft time if I have picks.

I 100% get it on Silver’s angle but the system just really dumbs down drafting and doesn’t allow for anyone to actually “excel” at finding the talented guys. Just have to get extra lucky that the guy you’re drafting doesn’t have rock bottom athletics or flaws that you won’t be able to see until you use a draft pick. Means Rog/Silver have to make everyone look the same/more similar because it would be fucked if you drafted a quality looking PG with 25 strength in the lottery. Pretty much unworkable.

Is it really skill though? This isn't a criticism so please don't take it as that, but there is no GM skill in writing a million articles, having a bunch of jobs, and more time to do league stuff so you can have the money to scout and camp. That's not skill, it's just the ability to put more time into something that enables you to scout someone. Plus being given the exact ratings isn't skill in finding hidden gems, that's just being given the exact blueprint. I agree with what you saying to an extent but it's certainly not "dumbing it down" because the last system didn't take a ton of smarts to get right

This actually makes it like a real draft.
I feel we should get to see the pre draft without having to pay but now it's a crap shoot. Which the draft really is. I don't scout so I am ok with the ordeal and now you really have to think this over instead of comparing numbers to make sure you get it right.

I don’t scout the entire draft! Anyone and everyone in the league can come up with 1-1.5K from Pickems and then turn that towards the draft!

It levels the playing field by bringing bad GM’s who draft like shit regularly and good GM’s who draft gems regularly to the exact same point. Less information availability is not an ideal situation! I understand Silver’s time commitment so I can’t really be mad about anything but the idea of having less information available in this situation is not a good thing regardless of how people spin zone it.

Interesting that we went away from scouting, yet we still have to scout player stats. IMO that will hold things up just as much during the draft. I thought part of it was to eliminate having the Commish be present all the time to provide scouts?
